Known facts, yes. Different sound plugins will give different results in a couple of tricky games, that's to be expected. In the meantime, you could use WIISXRX_2022.

Anyway, RX 3.2 is coming with a different plugin for those types of games.
Yup :)

WiiSXRX (from first release until version 3.0 or next 3.1) - uses FranSPU (psx4all) plugin
WiiStation (WiiSXRX_2022) - uses DFSound (PCSX-ReARMed)

WiiStation (WiiSXRX_2022) uses the dfsound plugin for audio, which is very different and better than FranSPU (from psx4all), which original WiiSXRX uses.
Bad choice of words against the plugin devs. It works different, specially for low power platforms, that's one of the reasons it was implemented in the first place by emukidid & company, and why it tends to give a couple more FPS on busy games.

I already know all that. You copy-pasted the info from my Github, dude. :rofl2:

I get a ISI exception when clicking 'execute BIOS' in Beta 3.0, regardless of whether from SD card or USB.
Curiously booting games through BIOS work as intended.

Edit: Only happens when no ROM is loaded. I assumed in this case it would just try to execute an empty BIOS load. Anyhow not critical.

I just watched a teardown of a black RVL-60 and I can confirm that some of them DO still come with older C4991/C8391 chips. It's not clear and you miss it pretty quick, but if you pay attention to the formatting of the letters on the chip, it doesn't match a BU99 at all.

Teardown link:

I'll post a zoomed in teardown screenshot and comparison photos with a BU99 and a C8391, it's definitely not a BU99

Look at this issue: https://github.com/niuus/WiiSXRX/issues/72

This issue affects both WiiSX RX v3.0 and v3.1 (but not versions v2.7 or earlier).

Is it OK for let me check what's wrong with WiiSXRX code, check @xjsxjs197's code and implement GUI fixes from @xjsxjs197's repo to main WiiSXRX?

Glad that your WiiSXRX is updating for good, i love PS1 emulation on Wii now thanks to both you @niuus and @xjsxjs197 (with his WiiStation).

But about Need for Speed, @GustavoReis reported that Need for Speed cannot be played because of it doesn't detect input. This was fixed on commit https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/commit/a12c773fb8471536c3992ce7c637d9c7e13009d3, maybe you want to add this fix to WiiSXRX-Evo branch? I've made a PR for that ;) https://github.com/niuus/WiiSXRX/pull/74

PD: I will also made PRs for fix some issues with GUI that are present on both WiiSXRX 3.0 and 3.1 ;)

Ah, so that one escaped the clutches. Thanks for the heads up. I uploaded a new version with the hotfix.

Is this emulator compatible with Xinput and USB Hid?. I just saw on the Github and tried it, but i haven´t been able to make it work
Those are Goals, not Features. So maybe, just maybe, someday.

Yeah, that was implemented already, at the last minute I thought about skipping one version and just release 3.1 with all the commits. I changed the list, and then forgot to flip the names back to 3.2 when I decided it was better to have a 3.1 release and then a 3.2, as compatibility has shifted around and a build could give you games that the updates won't. 3.2 will include NFS working normal, as well as CS.

New release based on the Evo branch is up (3.2)

[3.2 - October 27, 2022]
  • CDDA is now available for use. Check the details below about the two new builds.
  • Reduced loading time.
  • Updates to CDrom plugin and new timer, compatibility rise.
  • CDrom speedup.
  • GTE updates.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
READ CAREFULLY:
There are separate builds, one is WiiSXRX-FS and the other one is WiiSXRX-DS. Each one uses a different sound plugin.

WiiSXRX-FS is more recommended for use on the Wii, since it is lighter on resources. It can give you a speed boost that may vary between 5-15 FPS, depending on the game. Some games may even sound better on this build, compared to -DS. However, the sound plugin within this build does NOT read Red Book audio (CDDA).

WiiSXRX-DS is more recommended for use on the Wii U's "overclocked mode". Being more accurate, means it is heavier on the use of the console's resources, which in turn means less FPS on limited systems like the Gamecube and Wii, hence the recommendation. Some games do sound better or without audio glitches on this build, or even require it to work fully, compared to -FS. The sound plugin within this build DOES include full support for Red Book audio (CDDA).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A snippet of the new games playable are: Broken Sword 2 - Las Fuerzas del Mal, Gensou Suiko Gaiden Vol.1 & 2, the Harry Potter series, Disney's Atlantis - The Lost Empire, Rayman 2 - The Great Escape, Nightmare Creatures, etc.

Find a growing list of newly playable and tested games on the second post of the WiiSXRX thread. It will be updated whenever I can.

Thanks for this release - now all my games works, with generic controllers support. All-in-Wonder thing :)

Bugs I've found:
- connecting/disconnecting generic Classic Controller during game causes Wiimote freeze (only reset button on console works; I haven't tested connecting second Wiimote) and only thing I could do is hard reset; there are no problem with connecting/disconnecting controller on menu (even on paused game)
- selecting "load from DVD" causing console freeze (my Wii doesn't support DVD discs) - any way to get rid of that button (which can be clicked accidentally), maybe option to hardly choose ISO's directory (with option to ask everytime, as it is now)?

Is it technically posible to make one ultimate build with both sound plugins and option to choose which one I want to use? Some games (Rayman) works great with DS on Wii (and have music!), some games could use a speed boost and don't use CDDA (Croc, Worms World Paty).

And one more request: posibility to have individual config's for each game, that would override global settings (like USB Loader GX): to set controller type (some games want Analog, some don't support it), button settings slot, BIOS etc. - maybe sound plugin too (if there is a change to integrate two plugins into one build)?

Just edit in a hex editor the settings file to load (settingsRX.cfg) in the boot.dol file of WiiSXRX to another name of the same length for get per-game settings.
My friend @Zorg1996 does that for his PS1 VC SRLs.

This is the dirtiest workaround I've ever seen :)

But I'm not using VC SRLs, or even WiiFlow, so it won't do the trick. But for people who does - this method solve problem with two sound plugins too :)

@niuus
Thanks for WiiSXRX 3.2. :D

A critical bug report: the timing autoFix function (which fixes Parasite Eve 2, Vandal Hearts) on 3.2 now it's broken on all builds (3.0 and 3.1 work though).

Can you see in the code what's going on and in what modification actually break the timing autoFix?

You know, i'm currently making some modifications for add more autoFixes, and tidy up the timing autoFix (all from @xjsxjs197's repo), for later send you a PM for 3.3, but I couldn't get the timing autoFix working due of being broken since 3.2.

Can you check this please? Thanks!!!

Finally cdda, the another version does not work running everything with usb, you need a sd, thanks

Edit: Mortal kombat trilogy is still not working the music
Bruh, you need to use the WiiSXRX 3.2 build that has the DFSound plugin (the build labeled -DS), not the FranSPU one (the one labeled -FS).
FranSPU doesn't support CDDA.

Did you read the not-small and not-subtle release notes? See what SaulFabre told you.

Cool, i'll read it there.

@niuus Maybe you should keep labeling your emulator as always (wiisxrx) and just add a simple rename to the other branch.

WiisxRX : The same emulator you love updated, faster but hasn't cdda compatibility at all.
WiisxRX-CDDA : Build with different audio aproach, it can read cdda but isn't as fast as the older alternative.

Remember that the average user doesnt care about what changes or plugins use while it can play their legal adquired games as close as possible to the original hardware.

Well, average users should always read. I make simple options available and document them, it's up to users if they want to learn, I can't hold hands to each every single user on earth.

If they can learn to download hundreds of not-really-their-backup-games and ISOs, and really want to play according to their platform, they have the obligation to read simple paragraphs and explanations already there on the page, and even on the included readme.

Not taking away the feature, but I already did a more simple and elegant solution for 3.3, that I planned to save me one click when navigating quickly, but just forgot to implement. Never before pressed Load from DVD accidentally, though.
