For those using Vista, and Win 7 trying to get smb working. There is a setting that will make your connection fail everytime if its not set properly. Do this only if after you have double checked your settings, and your firewall is not interfering, and your net is setup properly.

Open up the local security policy by running secpol.msc

Navigate to Local Policies -> Security Policies

Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.

Close security policy and reconnect to the share. If it still doesnt work change the encryption level to not require 128 bit encryption.

Open Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients and uncheck the require 128 bit.

Open Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) servers and uncheck the require 128 bit.

Reconnect to the share and it should connect correctly.

In addition, on Win 7, I noticed there are still some wierd issues. I can connect to certain shares, but not all on my machine. They all have the proper permissions, and I am not using any passwords on the shares. So if all else fails, make a new share and restart your machine. Your mileage may vary.

1.0.1 solved my HDD issue, it now plays most of the media on it.

However, it plays .MP4 videos at probably 2 frames a minute, even though the sound is fine.

Also, the Navi video quality is still absolutely horrid; is there anyway to remove the pixelation, or are all Navi videos like that natively?

I am not experiencing any of this, my router has a firewall and my comp. You just have to use 40 or 56 encryption and you are good to go. At least for me, Linksys WRT54G V6 Router, 7 Ultimate.

If this and everything else fails, try uninstalling Windows update KB980232.

This is the best player that I have seen but I am having a few issues with SMB and FTP. Sometimes when I connect there are no files or foldes listed. Then again the Win 7 file sharing is a pain sometimes.

So am I the only one having the quality problem streaming from Navi?

Nope. I'm having the same problem too.
TBH it never looks that great on the Xbox, I usually download instead (I couldn't find an option to do that on the Wii)

Also, I only seem to see the first one or two entries in a folder within Navi-X?!?
Folders that I know (from the Xbox) contain say 900+ entries - does the Wii just not have the capacity to list them all?

Even 1.0.1 would not see my USB drive.

Wooohooo!
Awesome job guys, the GUI is looking great, also, video playback works fine here!
yaywii.gif

Subtitles also work fine. I hope they will be configurable soon. (Size, and height)
And the browsing/picture slide show works really fast! I haven't seen any bugs for now.
A really good first release. I'll donate some cash later.

Hello,

When played a divx with subtitle (portuguese), and the letter have a emphasis, mplayer give me a "?"

example: acção --> acç?o or às vezes --> ?s vezes

Exist possibility resolved this?

sorry for my very poor english.

I think this is the wrong topic, and your question should be posted here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=135506&st=1095
Anyway the answer is yes. Go to mplayer.conf file and in the parameters to adjust the font size add, in the end: subcp=ISO-8859-1.
That’s all.

Who knows how to get subtitles working in combination with a regular video file format?

Who knows how to get subtitles at all? I can't.

I know the obvious like selecting 'on' in the config section - but they don't work for me.

Nor does the 'pop-up box' that I read about several posts ago - the only thing that comes up when I press - or + is the progress bar, basic navigation controls and volume. To zoom or change aspect etc. I have to - stop player - goto config - make changes - come back to player - and resume play.

The gui is obviously good compared to mplayer but, not really 'awesome' or 'sexy' - adequate, I think sums my one up nicely.

None of the above are complaints because I am stunned at just how brilliantly this player performs - I'm just a little confused as to what version everyone else is talking about (mine is the one downloaded from the home page - 1.01 I think?

Excellent program - Just feeling a little left out cos I don't seem to have all the 'extras' for some reason

(still scores an 11 out of 10 from me though)

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
