Hi, I have a problem with getting my Wii to use tv-type EDTV/HDTV (480p) using the official Nintendo component cable. And I hope someone can help me out.
I followed this video to connect my Wii with my Onkyo receiver. This all works on tv-types 50Hz (576i) and 60Hz (480p). But when I select EDTV/HDTV (480p) the picture goes black, sound still works.
The only way I can get EDTV/HDTV (480p) to work at the moment, is to boot the Wii without the component cable attached to it. Then plug the cable in, I can then see / use the Wii menu's. But when I start a game or USB Loader the screen will go black again or in some cases it will show the picture twice, split vertical before going black.
It all used to work fine, when I had the component cable connected to my TV (so without the receiver), but that is not an option anymore since the TV hangs on the wall now.
Anyone got an idea what I am doing wrong?
