By 2011, I don't think any new console will be around. Maybe announced, but not there yet.
Well, that's practically what they're doing with PS1 and PS2. It's not at all hightech anymore, but that doesn't mean you can still make fun games for it. I Think the PS3 will definately last 10 years, but the PS4 will be announced earlier.

Most likely new systems will have only digital distribution for newer games with a drive for the older games, seriously getting DLC is easy and most people don't use a credit card to get DLC, all you need are the points cards that are selling at Gamestop or Ebay if you are on a different regions' network trying to get the best stuff available.

it won't use blu-ray since sony owns it.
that fake cover is all wrong and stupid
But by that time we're back at the DVD! But then his 1,5 TB form!

Those things are going to be expensive. I doubt consoles will be using those any time soon though.
Ehm... NO Those things are a little more expansive to make than a normal DVD and way more cheaper than a Blu-Ray

LOL?

On a side note, knowing Nintendo and their stance on "Innovative gameplay" and "Who needs powerful hardware?", HD isn't coming to the Wii for a long time, or at least until Sony and Microsoft are using 3D technology.

they said holodisc will have atleast 500gb which i think is totally unnecessary... i mean 1 blueray is like over the limit (imagine ff13) and now upto 1.5TB (unnecessary totally)
this is unlikely as wii is not very famous for improving tech tht quickly... by the way, the girl really needs be careful not to lose her head

maybe nintendo will be innovative and make a hardcore gaming console and a casual shit console
Yeah, to then drop on of them like they did with the GBA when the DS was announced as a third pillar.

I've said this before, the Wii is losing out on the big najme games due to its less powerful hardware and gaining more shitty one's because of it (its cheaper to develop on)

All I have to say is to use the MGS4 method i.e. Don't bother compressing the audio, that'll fill up space!

DS has a good few gems on it, I've put the ones I think are good onto my flashcart and its up to 15, on top of that I have at least 8 retail carts which are great fun.

Nintendo has become synonymous with innovation and casual gaming. They are the ones turning non-gamers into gamers, and hopefully one day into hardcore gamers. I highly doubt Nintendo will be making their next console just a graphical overhaul, and it's definitely not going to be called the "Wii HD". So far Nintendo has the lowest priced games and console on the market, especially with up coming $50 drop. Yes, it does have lower quality graphics and no dvd/blu-ray player but it's justified by the price and focus on innovation. Many will dismiss innovation as an important feature but lets not forget that Nintendo was the one who brought us the D-pad, rumble pack, they are the ones who let us move characters with the left thumb and placed the buttons on the right and top of a control pad. I haven't forgot that they are also the ones who brought us many failures like the Virtual boy and the GBA to GC tangled cord mess. With innovation comes good and bad and I'm glad they have the balls to try new things.

If you were to place a NES controller next to a ps3 or xbox 360 controller, it isn't too hard to imagine how the evolution came about. More buttons and a different shaped pad. Comepare it to the Wii and theres a bit more difference. Some games will only work really well on PS3/Xbox 360 and others can ONLY work on the Wii. All 3 consoles are awesome but there's no way that Nintendo will backtrack into making games for hardcore gamers only. The opposite is more likely since they are raking in massive money from their casual games like Wii fit, and making way way less off of great hardcore games like Mario Galaxy.

The next Nintendo console has no need to come out anytime soon just as the PS3 and Xbox360 have no reason to push their hardware yet. Great games are being produced and all 3 systems have them. Xbox execs have been quoted saying that they have tech ready for a new console but there isn't any reason to kill off a system right now. I'm glad. I don't need to buy another console when the ones out are just starting to drop in price and developers are getting getter and better at creating games for these systems.

What could a ps4 possibly be? I dont think the next generation will be a huge jump in quality like 1-2 and 2-3 (PS timeline speaking)
HOLOGRAPHS.
Yeah, but seriously, are they going to make it, like, 4D or something. lol. I don't think you can step up much from blue ray.
LOL @ RAMPART!! Seriously what the fuck? I haven't played my Wii for 2 fucking years! That thing is terrible, and the games aren't even worth pirating. It's only got shovelware.

Yeah, It's true that Wii doesn't have a ton of games for the hardcore gamer but some of my favorite games are on that console. Super smash bros., Mario Galaxy, World of Goo, Boom Blox, Mario Kart Wii, Super Paper Mario are all great games imo. The thing is, if you have an xbox 360 or a Ps3 theres little reason to buy a 3rd party game for the Wii. Wii DEFINITELY needs more good games to come out, they've had a drought unless you bought the Conduit.

They do have a few great games on the horizon though, New Super Mario bros. Wii and I'm really looking forward to Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Who knows Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles might be a gerat game too.

Madworld, Dead Space Extraction, Muramasa, & Little Kings Story are also recent Wii only greats and 3rd party too. The Conduit pales compared to those four. Also the figure increases once you add WiiWare.

I came across this

English version
The rumors about a high definition version of the Wii continue to arise with some regularity. Through various sources it would appear that prototypes have been shown to partners but Nintendo refutes that.

In his blog piece he writes journalist John Davison has learned from his sources that the "Wii HD" in the 2011 round would have to come, and thus the current Wii will succeed. Besides high-definition images would be more focus on downloadable content and backward compatible, which would indicate significant storage capacity in the form of a hard disk or flash memory. Davison sees in the increased research and development costs of the Japanese game giant a signal that something is coming: in 2003, the R & D costs 34 million U.S. dollars in 2006 came from the Wii and 103 million was spent. In 2007 was 370 million U.S. dollars spent on research. These cost increases could also be related to the then still shrouded in rumors revision of the Nintendo DS.

Those rumors proved true when the new Nintendo DSi handheld presented. A Wii HD is Reggie Fils-Aime, president of the American branch of Nintendo, however, as rumors and speculation. The news that Nintendo has shown prototypes to publishers and developers to gather feedback he describes as inaccurate: "In this way they will not know our plans," said Fils-Aime.

Look for your self...:S

I don't see them making a Wii HD. They can already create good games with good graphics. Metroid Prime 3 is a good example. Not to mention how much it could cost to get it.
