I know I'm not really going to get a flat-out answer or anything but I really want to know what you think about why people attempt to accomplish things, not to say I'm not happy people have, I do wonder why things like innovation, advancement, accomplishment and progress drive people to try to create and do different things. Why are people usually shunned or thought lower of if they don't? Questions like these are what I want to hear your opinions on.

We don't. We don't have to at all.

You're question is odd.

Why we HAVE to? Because it's only natural.
Sometimes we accomplish something and not even notice it, even if it's the smallest accomplishment ever and everyone has their own definition of what accomplishment means to them. The feeling of being proud of accomplishing something is...well...good? If you feel bad for saving the life of someone...then there is something wrong with you.

...or maybe I am wrong?

Also if you don't accomplish anything, then you'll be affected by others people's accomplishments. Or maybe you just don't give a rats ass.
Either way, it affects anyone somehow. I just don't know the proper definitions, research, etc

Where's Gahars/Soulx?

Edit: Yep

But standing out doesn't really help you survive now does it? Hell, look at Albino animals, they stand out and get ripped to shreads or starve to death.
You make it sound like we are *just regular* animals?
We are much more than animals, we are human, that part of humanity in us comes with a lot of upsides and downsides (ever seen a depressed ant? didn't think so. hey, you could probably make a funny joke with that)

It's chemical driven by the brain. We have these things called neurotransmitters that are responsible for our behavior. Everything from eating, sleeping, drinking water, having sex and even movement release these chemicals, especially dopamine in the reward pathway which really drives us as human beings.

We are animals. We just happen to be the only ones that can think too deep.

And for the record, an ant is an insect...not an animal. ;P

we are animals, however we have a very developed frontal lobe which sets us apart from the rest of the animal world. Using an ant is a pretty bad example. Even then, all living things use the same basic neurotransmitters to function. Animals can be depressed due to chemichal imbalance, they just wont show the same symptoms as a human. Also, insects are animals.

I was saying deep thoughts, like the meaning of life, why we do stuff, that sort of stuff. Monkeys could have that ability though, they have 98% of our DNA... as a banana has 50%...

Interesting to hear so far, also Cost, we are animals (to a point) but to compare a developed human being with independent thought and morality to an ant which is basically born to be part of a mass with one goal of gaining more food to survive, is kind of like comparing an apple to a venus flytrap.

It's our needs for perfection.

For example, find the world's most perfect pizza to you. Eat it everyday for 10 years, what do you get? The pizza no longer has it's perfect title because it's no longer significant.

Same principle, moving from day to day of our lives, we want to feel the need to move towards perfection. The only way to do it is to go outside the average and hit significant observations in the positive direction: AKA achievements
