there was a device that looked like a gameboy micro, only bigger and it allowed you to play gba roms and several other consoles roms from an sd-card.

The native firmware kinda blows, as it only plays GBA and videos extremely well (all other emulation kinda sucks), but dual-boot the sucker into Dingux (Linux Dingux) and you'll have access to emulators that play multiple consoles flawlessly, as well as game ports (such as Doom or Duke Nukem 3D). It's quite a cool little device

I'd stick with the GP2X Wiz... It has less emulators but instead better emulation and a touch screen. It also comes with some version of a flash game called Boomshine.

Boo! Hiss! Get a Dingoo A320 (I think that's what they're called

)
Um...... I'm all for the GP2X Wiz because of better emulation. Sorry. Dingoo may be small and cute but GP2X Wiz wins the battle because it emulates better.
How do I know? I watched both reviews on these by some dude TweeterMan on youtube.

I have a Dingoo and a Wiz. I don't even use the Dingoo any more I let my five year old nephew play with the thing. The sound on the Dingoo is horrible. There's not one emulator that works well for the Dingoo exept maybe the Atari 2600. GBA is bad, Neo Geo is horrible, Sega is bad, there's not Sega CD. The OLED screen on the Wiz blows the Dingoo away. I really can't understand why hte Dingoo is so popular. My old GP2X blows with doors off the Dingoo.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
