Infact the SD menu addition that Ninty added onto firmware update 4.1 uses a similar method to that I've suggested.
Wiiware & VC channels stored on the SD card menu get copied back onto the Wii-NAND when selected, and only delay the start up of a game by a few seconds. Simples.

Attempting SD NAND this weekend, got the headache-tabs on standby

Bah, as expected, 2 weeks of grief and I'm still no further with Sneek, just tried the latest sneek version 0.1 beta 3, did everything to the letter, tried with various SD cards of brand and size, also tried USB sticks ,,, nothing

just left with a headache & a Wii that takes about 3 minutes to boot, SD/USB nand just doesn't work for me ,,, can't see what the hype is with sneek, just doesn't seem to be a stable program in my eyes.

Most folk I've asked about sneek tell me to run it with barebones setup just to get it working at a decent speed ,,,, but what's the point in that, surely the whole idea of sneek is to push past the limited nand space available of the wii, yet if everyone is running it with barebones nothing installed, then ummm why not just use the Wii's internal Nand.
My Nand only have 300 blocks left and it runs v fast.
I can see how clever the idea is with Sneek and potentially what it can acheive, and will no doubt improve over time, but I just don't see it as a workable solution to the limited Wii nand space at this time.

So I'm back on the pursuit of hopefully being heard by one of the genius coders out there that could perhaps add a bit of code to try my copy savegame idea, I kno I sound like a broken record but there surely must be others in the same boat as me.
What with the recent introduction of USB Loaders & many people using HDD's to run games, there must be many others with nand space issues for savegames ,,,

Where do you think would be the best place to start, perhaps I could try the USB Loader forums, or does anyone have any contacts that could forward my idea ??

use showmiiwads, create a new NAND with just the system menu you want, and the IOS it uses. copy settings.txt from one of your old NAND dumps over. Put it in your wii and wait a few mins until it does first time setup.

You should have a very fast NAND that way (missing all the IOS, but you can either add them in manually with showmiiwads or you can do an online update when running SNEEK - that DOES take a long time though, like 30mins plus).

If you have pre/iiloader installed that apparently caused problems (not sure if they were speed related).
The speed of SNEEK booting depends largely on how fast your SD card is

Yea my SD card seems fine for other functions, when I run a Wiiware title from the SD card menu, it runs fast, even the large 300 block+ titles copy to Wii nand and run in under 10 seconds.

Thanks for the savegame manager link, infact the program I was using wasn't the 'GX' labelled one, your link points to an improved one with a nice GUI, I will definitely try that later tonight.

Have also read that USB Loader GX have disabled the FAT / FFS Module which enables save game nand emulation, but uLOADER by Hermes (http://www.wiihacks.com/software-backup-loaders/62579-uloader-hermes.html) and Hermes CIOS 222 v5 includes the save game nand emulation, so perhaps this would be a step in the right direction.

I'm gonna give up with Sneek, it just gives me a headache and nothing I seem to do get's it working, I've even tried friends nands with basic setup on my console, and I'm still not getting good results. Plus I've heard that using sneek blocks out the use of the SD card menu (unless you use DI which is apparently buggy), or USB devices, so I'd have to install Tri-force & move all my wiiware over ,,, bah, just seems so much grief and I'm still stuck at step 1 which is getting the Sneek part to work ...

The save game emulation seems like a much simpler idea to me, and I'm hoping in time that the development in this area becomes more popular across the various type of loaders.
At least I can see now that there is interest in it, and that it is being applied to the newer CIOS upgrades and USB loaders, originally I thought I'd stumbled across a brand new idea, but it's obvious now that the genius's out there were already working on it ,,,

Cheers for all the advise everyone and if I hear of any further progress in the development of this savegame emulation then I'll be sure to post an update here
