I wonder if this will ever be a reality but an app that can patch a game on load to save to the front sd card.

Well, I wonder when it will happen really, or would this be impossible? I think it could be done myself, would it be a good thing?

Would it help with people finding storage a problem as some game saves are a few times bigger then VC games etc.

Post your thoughts.

you can just copy your saves from your wii to your sd card then delete them from the system memory then put them back on when you want to use them

Wow, I'll need to try that

But seriously, a hook that rewrites the location to the SD on load, I'm sure it could be done, but sadly not by me for a long long time. Is it a worthy idea of someones time to develop and test etc.

Now for anyone who doesn't understand what I mean.
When you boot a game you can select to save directly to the SD card, without patching the iso, but more like adidng a hook.

So imagine.... you boot a game it ask you ..Where to save....Wii or SD, if you pick SD, it read and writes to there saving you the hassle of neeidng to move saves around etc. Plus SD cards are waaaaaaaaaaaay bigger to store things on.

Too bad it's so slow copying files too and from SD.

Indeed it is slow - get a fast SD card (Sandisk Ultra2/xtreme3) and it's faster at writing to SD, but still annoying.

As for some saves not copying then just use geckoos (or the copy launcher) and reboot with the no copy flag disabled. Now you can copy all saves to/from SD.

Well if this was coded by someone it would mean that if you put your settings to "save to SD", it would do so from the game.

You wouldn't even need to go into the wii settings and then into the memory manager screen and then copy to the SD card, it would just happen automatically from the game as if you were just saving to the wii, saving well lots and lots and lots of time.

I doubt anyone can write this, or it would have been done the idea is brilliant saves time and the oh so important space on the limited Wii memory

The problem is, writing to SD is slow - there is a chance the game may crash whilst writing to SD card rather than NAND. Plus I'm an impatient person, if a save takes 6seconds instead of 1sec I'll be unable to take it. =]

An option I would like is a "copy all to SD" option in the wii settings menu. I could then just backup all my saves to SD at once, and then click the (not yet invented) "Delete All" button to clear the nand.

It could actually be even better by using the (not yet invented) move to SD card option.

Gay fish had this option, but who will figure it out first?

*EDIT / UPDATE

Now using Hermes cIOS v5 + uLOADER you can read/write saves to/from SD/USB

So no need for this topic anymore.

Thanks Hermes

Does anyone know if the savegame nand emulation is supported in the latest version of USB Loader GX (rev938) ?

No it's not.

With uLoader and SNEEK/UNEEK there is no need for this topic anymore imho.
