Hardware What is the Nintendo 3DS LL ?

It's because my friend is currently looking for second hand 3DS units and it is the cheapest one he could find.

However he also want to downgrade (And use CFW on it), and remembering that 2DS and New 3DS units cannot be downgraded. I'm lacking information......

What is the Nintendo 3DS LL?

Is either one of these two things ?

1)It's a Japanese Nintendo 3DS XL

or

2)It's a Japanese New Nintendo 3DS XL?

A clarification would help greatly.

It's a naming scheme that started with the DSi XL; LL is simply the Japanese equivalent of XL (or if it's not, it's what they chose to go with to differentiate it from the regular sized models). So a regular 3DS LL (without New in the name) is, quite simply, a 3DS XL.

LL is the same as XL in Japan, they use it for clothes and stuff, too.

keep in mind when someone says 3ds LL it's guaranteed (unless the seller is a douche..) that is a japanese console. i am telling this because region locks... in case you don't already know. you can only play games from the same region (unless you have a method to bypass it, like regionthree)
