Yep.

1) Run Hackmii v0.5 and update Homebrew Channel, DVDx and BootMii.

2) Run Firmware Updater 4.2.

3) Feel happy to be pimpin' on 4.2 without issue.

All cIOSes and boot2 version should remain.

If you don't update Homebrew Channel and DVDx first, you will have to use the SmashStack or Indiana Pwns exploit to restore them!

You should update the Homebrew Channel via the Hackmii v0.5 installer first, actually.

If you have been using Nintendo to update (on 4.1) do you have run TBR first before you can use the 4.2 updater?

So, you're already running HBC 1.0.5 and SM 4.2, right? Is it the official SM or Wninkoko's? lso, could you keep BootMii running from boot2?

Yes, I already installed HBC 1.0.5 and DVDx 2 first.

If you're using an older HBC/DVDx then System Menu 4.2 WILL detect and remove them on boot. Hence why you need to update HBC/DVDx first to save them.

Yeah... I'm aware that I need HBC 1.0.5 and in fact it's already installed in my wii. Widescreen nd all, beautiful. I just want to make sure that when I update the SM to 4.2 it won't f*ck up my boot2 so I cn keep using BootMii as boot2 rather than IOS. Also I use USB Loader GX so I gather I should stick to waninkoko's SM?

Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.2 doesn't update boot2 so it's safe.

So since I used the new HackMii installer already, does that mean I can just run Wanin's updater and I'm good? Or do I have to run the Hackmii installer again after and worry about IOSs, DVDX, etc.?

I still have to wait for a new Preloader before I upgrade.

Yep, you should be fine.

On a related note I've used the Firmware Updater v4.2 and it works perfectly.

I've got full 4.2U now with all homebrew and cIOSes remaining.

From the ReadMe :-

"[ REQUISITES ]:

- 150-250 free blocks.
- Internet connection / SD card + needed WAD files."

For those of us with no Wii internet connection, can anybody expand "needed WAD files" ?

Many Thanks in Advance.

You could collect them via NUS Downloader (with the updated database). But it's highly recommend to use the internet option if available because some of the IOSes, channels and system menu can be over 20+MB each.

Another requisite if you're using the Homebrew Channel and/or DVDx is to update both via the Hackmii v0.5 installer first before updating to 4.2, or else System Menu 4.2 will remove the current HBC/DVDx.
