You can emulate GBC/GB games without an extension for slot 2 with moonshell?

http://www.dwedit.org/gba/goombacolor.php

I use an r4, if I downloaded goomba color and loaded it through moonshell, would I be able to play GBC and GB games? Also, if anyone has done this before can you give me a quick tutorial? Thanks in advance

You are using a DS right?

If so, then Lameboy is probably the best DS GB/GBC emulator out there.

http://lameboy.nutki.com/

Just stick your GB/GBC roms anywhere on your SD card, run Lameboy from your R4, then browse through the folders on your SD card to find your GB roms.

Also, your post sounds like you might have been thinking about running GBA games on a DS. Currently, the iPlayer is the only flashcard that can do this, since it has extra CPU power and a DS's processing power isn't high enough to run a GBA emulator directly.
Without an iPlayer, a slot 2 flashcard of some sort is required to play GBA roms on a DS.

Stab...does that mean I don't even need lameboy or goomba color? I can just straight up load .gbc and .gb files?

Also Zowayix...thanks I'll try it out. Also, would I need to make a seperate folder for the lameboy or does the lameboy have to be on the root?

Lameboy can be anywhere, but it searches for a "lameboy" ROM folder on the root. Best to make a lameboy folder and put ROMs there.

Thanks guys. I got it to work. I'm suprised by the lack of good GBC/GB games excluding pokemon. I only about 4 games here. If I have a R4SDHC, what matching slot-2 accessory do I need to emulate GBA games?

I'm playing Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages right now. One of the greatest GB/GBC games IMO.

youve got pokemon, link's awakening, ages, oracles, mario land, final fantasy tactics, donkey kong... a lot of GB/GBC games have been remade into GBA or DS versions, but the originals are still good

@BigOnYa, Maybe. Depends if Nintendo wanted to expand the lifespan of the console. But with every console that they release, it usually gets discontinued after 10-12 years.

Support from big n may stop aka new firmwares, but devs will prob continue making games for it as long as sales are good.

New firmwares are only there to prevent piracy/softmodding hardware, they do not "enhance the user experience" as they claim so on and so forth. And if they decide to add new features to the system via firmware updates, then it's quite rare.

Games are still released on PS4\ XboxOne, so I imagine will be same scenario.

I have a feeling big N has a extra trick up they sleeve to prevent piracy this time w Switch 2. (Lotus 4 maybe) So the new games can't be dumped, even w a dump tool. (Mig dumper)

It would have to be extra security measures in the Switch 2 gamecarts that will be different from the OG Switch carts. So, for example, Switch 2 gamecarts will not work with the Switch, because it has a different ASIC. Game partitions and layout to a Switch ROM will be the same, but has extra flags in the ROM header info that only the Switch 2 will recognise.

When I owned my pizza place many years ago, we didn't have a cash register at all, every employee was given a "bank" of small bills at start of shift. Then everyone pocketed the money and made change, and I'd cash everyone out at end of shift. One time we had a gunman come in to rob me and wanted to know where's the cash register. I told him we don't take cash, only credit, and he left with nothing. Cops caught him even.

My wifeys aunt gave her some gold coins in her will when she passed last year, and the tax man was gonna tax her a gift tax on it, but our accountant said if she sells the gold and put that money into a 5 year CD, it will be untaxable. So she did, and now IRS saying they want a income tax on the gold coin sale. Damn taxman always greedy.
