Hardware Virtual surround

OK so I have an old Sony KP-44PX2 rear projection CRT TV. It's got Dolby Virtual Surround Sound. Does this allow the Wii to output Surround sound? Or can it only be used with external devices?

My TV's sound output quality is quite decent, with arguably quite massive speakers

This is the description of Dolby Virtual from the manual.

Dolby V: Dolby Virtual, simulates the sound effect of "Dolby Surround Pro Logic".

Note that I am also aware that the Wii is capable of outputting Pro Logic II, but I am not the type of guy that knows about audio-specific stuff.

I know that I can set it. What I'm asking is that if I should use Dolby Virtual in conjunction with the Wii's surround setting or should I just not bother?
