Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 press conference roundup - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora announced

Are you excited to kick off E3 2021? Ubisoft will be the first to take the digital stage with their Ubisoft Forward event. Pre-show leaks have already confirmed some of the things we can expect to see from the show, such as another crossover with Nintendo for a new Mario + Rabbids game, along with the reveal of Rocksmith+. Everything else is a mystery for now, but you can be certain that GBAtemp will cover all the new and exciting announcements as they happen, live. Be sure to tune in at 12pm PT (if you're unsure of when that is relative to your timezone, we have an E3 countdown clock on the front page!) to see what Ubisoft has to offer.

It starts now.

Rainbow Six is the first game up. Rainbow Six: Quarantine has been renamed to Rainbox Six: Extraction. Ubisoft presented a cinematic trailer for the story. Launches September 16th.

Gameplay will also be shown, with a deeper look via the development team. It's a 1-3 player game. You don't fight versus, this R6 game is all about co-op. You can lose your progress and gear by going into containment zones, but you'll be rewarded well.

There are new enemies like Spikers and Tormentors, and the powerful Apex. There will be cross-play, regardless of platform. Six Siege players will get special unlocks when they play Extraction.

The pre-show also revealed that the TMNT will be the latest crossover for Brawlhalla, and all four will be playable.

Rocksmith is next. The "future" of music learning is Rocksmith+. You can learn either acoustic or electric guitar. There are multiple skill levels and real-time feedback. You'll get to see your accuracy level, too.

Songs can be slowed down to help you learn them better. There will be a closed beta, you can sign up for it later today. Chord charts will be provided for all songs. This is a subscription service.

Riders Republic is an extreme sports game that has 6v6 matches. You need to do as many tricks as possible, while capturing modules.

There's cycling and snowboarding so far. Gliders.

Courses from real life are present, and landmarks too. Launches Sept 2nd.

Now it's all about updates to existing games.

Rainbow Six Siege is next. They're adding crossplay for Stadia or Luna. PlayStation and Xbox get crossplay in 2022.

For Honor will still be getting content.

Watch Dogs: Legion is getting a Bloodline DLC expansion, which focuses on Watch Dog's 1 protagonist Aiden Pearce.

Trackmania is getting a map editor and new water physics.

Ghost Recon turns 20 this year. There are more surprises in store for it, yet to be announced.

Just Dance is up. Just Dance 2022. Todrick Hall will have his songs in the game. Nov 4th.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is getting one-handed swords and bugfixes. The team is dedicated to making the game run as smooth as possible and hope to keep supporting the game for months to come. There will be new expansions, too. Siege of Paris is the next DLC. Coming this Summer. It'll add new weapons, gear, and abilities.

There will be a discovery experience that lets you see the history and life of people who liked in the era of vikings. It's geared towards students and those curious about that time in history.

AC:V will have expansions even into next year, as well.

Mythic Quest was shown last year, and it's getting its second season. It's a workplace comedy about video games.

Werewolves Within is a movie that Ubisoft is working on. June 25th release.

Far Cry 6 footage. A story trailer sets the tone for the game.

Vaas, Joeseph, and the other Far Cry villains will have their own story expansion in the Far Cry 6 season pass.

Just as the early leak foretold, it's time for another Mario + Rabbids game.

There are Rabbid Lumas. Rabbid Rosalina.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. You'll be saving the whole galaxy, this time.

Ubisoft is introducing more action elements into this new game. But there will also be an easy experience for younger players, and a more difficult mode for those who found the original too easy.

We do get to see some gameplay, too.

Releases sometime in 2022.

That's not the end, though. Yves Guillemot takes a moment to talk about Ubisoft, and also to thank their players for all the support.

The last game reveal for the conference is...

It's an Avatar game, based on James Cameron's movie series. All sorts of creatures are shown, and you can ride them. It appears to be open world.

I'm a big fan of Rocksmith, it's how I learned guitar. But advertising the new version not with Iron Maiden or Metallica or anything decent worries me. Is the entire setlist gonna be this kind of whiny effeminate hipster puss rock from singers still waiting for their balls to drop? No wonder the modern youth is so messed up.

Everything else, the traditional annual wave of Ubisoft meh. They're the embodiment of the Grey Goo scenario at this point, and as such relegated to background noise in my gaming brain. I'll tune in for the Square Enix and Nintendo presentations but nothing else has much of a chance of impressing me this year.

I take bigger issue with the fact that it's a subscription service. Would be cool if somebody could figure out a way to convert new songs for use with the OG Rocksmith, assuming there are any worthwhile ones anyway.

Who in the high holy heck still cares about Avatar
In my opinion, they should have swapped Avatar and Watchdogs places, and ended the stream with a decent bang. That Avatar reveal was some weak-sauce. (I saw the jungle, and was hoping it was some kind of Turok game.)

Yeah you'd think they at least would've released a trailer for the movie sequel before making a spin-off game.

Gosh DANG it Massive is making the Avatar game, too. We coulda got The Division 3, but noooo. We need a video game based on a movie "series" that's had a single entry, with the sequel being tantamount to vaporware at this point. Ugh!
