I've noticed that it's sometimes difficult to find the threads I'm looking for in Switch subforums, because I'll search by title to find a thread relating to a specific game, and will have to revise the search to include variations on the game name (ie: Final Fantasy VII, and FFVII, and FF7). Sometimes, such variations have too few characters and thus can't be located by way of search. Now, I suppose I could use google, but I had the thought that such titles could be edited out to the full name of each game, to make the forum more navigable. Just a thought, not super pertinent or necessary, but it'd make it simpler to navigate the forums sometimes

The search on this fourm isn't very good
I suggest using google and doing this
put site:gbatemp.net
at the end of your search
this will make it so google will only show results from the temp

That seems to be the best way to go about searching. I think it even works if you specify subforums, like site:https://gbatemp.net/forums/switch-exploits-custom-firmwares-soft-mods.285/

so for now this is the best and most straightforward solution that doesn't require automation or mods making changes for users

That will search the subforum but it won't return you a thread. It will just return a page which google found the thread on, which will probably not be the same page still because they move so often.

A better choice is to search for the subforum name in quotes inside your search, since every thread in a subforum contains that text at the top of it.
For example you would include "Switch - Exploits, Custom Firmwares & Soft Mods"
An example with the word hekate:
Full search string is
site:gbatemp.net "Switch - Exploits, Custom Firmwares & Soft Mods" hekate

I do occasionally have to remind people to use proper titles and names in the ROM hacking sections, however to enforce it here... we have a hard enough time getting people not to title their threads "help" or something equally uninformative.

That said I will add expansion, or editing search terms into the main post, to the fixing typos thing I normally otherwise do.

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
