I just thought I'd make a topic dedicated to one of my favorite upcoming games, SaGa 2. It's a remake of an old Gameboy game that was named Final Fantasy Legend 2 in America. A good game now remade using 3D cell shaded graphics.

Have a look at some comparison shots made by Siliconera:

The game is said to be 70% complete and due out some time this year in Japan. Hope it makes it to the US!

I'm definitely excited about this. As I kid, I loved me some "Final Fantasy Legend"s, and #2 was definitely the best of the 3. 1 coming in second, and 3 taking a very very very weak third :\

I just hope... they don't ruin it. In their typical porting to DS SquareEnix way. Leave out the pokemon "collecting" elements of completing maps, collecting items, seeing enemies etc. and worthless endgame junk. If they can just keep it to be essentially the same game, with upgraded elements to the battle system, monster and robot growth, expanded storyline elements (and maybe try to have them make a little more sense...) with of course, upgraded graphics and sound, I think that I would be totally happy.

I mean, the fun of it is beating the game in a reasonable amount of time, not worrying about collecting stuff but just making it difficult and enjoyable enough that you would want to play through it again with a different set of characters for a bit of a different experience. Games need to get that "fun" factor back they had in the 8/16-bit days. Because if it isn't fun enough to play a second time through, then it probably wasn't worth playing the first time.

I'm not too keen on this camera angle they seem to have chosen.
On the other hand, I'll wait untill some gameplay footage is released.
Screens often poorly represent.

Well said.
