Hacking The big question: R4New SdHC

So, a few weeks ago, I posted a topic about the R4SDHC that was stuck. It was from manufacturer www.r4new.com so after a lot of fuss I managed to repair it. The question remains why it broke. It only seems to work with v1.23 (check Linfoxdomain), and if you reinsert a newer Kernel, one file is not there: AX_MENU.DAT.

So:

-What does AX_MENU.DAT do?
-Why isnt it in the future kernels
-why doesnt the card work with other firmware, even from own webpage.

I'm very curious about this, since my sister now uses YSmenu for use.

Anyone suggestions about this "AX_MENU.DAT"?
