Hacking The $3.30 R4s, clones or not?

Here are two pictures tk_saturn posted of the PBC of his $3.30 R4.

Definately the right one AKA original.

The frontside:

"original at left, fake at right, last original production code is 0817#"

The production code on the $3.30 R4 is 0815# which would also suggest it's an original.

So, looks like they're not clones after all.
If you have one of these and are willing to open it up for confirmation, feel free to post more screenshots.

Errm, I think I would know best since I had a real one and a fake one, whereas you are just looking at pictures.

How did you compare them?
And where did you get the "fake"?

o.0 who says he didn't open it up...it sounds like he did...and why open up a topic like this anyways -_-"...all sources already say any of the recent R4 carts are all fakes...are you trying to say that one person out of the many hundred (or thousand) of R4 users has more brains than the rest of the entire community to claim that the recent R4 carts aren't fake...I'm sorry but that really sounds as hopeful as a DSi channel magically popping out from a theory when we still know close to nothing about how the DSi is using its hardware.

I mean just taking this logically, the most dedicated of R4 users probably tore the entire flashcart to pieces, could rebuild it in a heartbeat, and know it inside out...You know, the people that actually care about the R4...I find it hard to believe that anyone like that would miss such a huge fact that the recent carts are infact, legit, original carts.

Did you even look at the pictures posted? Sure looks genuine.

It's fake. If you look at the inside of the shell it will have a double digit opposed to the original single digit. This doesn't mean in the future they can't just start using a single digit stamp. Anyway the #815 is from the r4li team.

Yeah it's a clone but it may as well be real. It has the same components and build quality but the board layout is slightly different. You can't solder a bridge to run the M3 simply firmware.

It's not "from the r4li team". It's a production code used in genuine R4s.
