Hacking SX OS - Will I lose my Zelda save game if I install a new Zelda XCI that includes DLC?

So I have a Switch running the latest SX OS.

I have Zelda XCI installed and I downloaded a new full version that also includes all the DLC, also in XCI format.

1. Do I delete my current Zelda install before installing new one? If not, then what is the procedure?

2. Is there any chance I could mess up my save game in this process? If so, what’s the procedure to back it up and restore it to this updated Zelda version?

Thank you.

Or you can install the DLC you know.
Also, why are you downloading XCIs and then installing them, when you can get NSPs?
1. Both should achieve the same.
2. The save should stay there. But it is always a good thing to make a backup. Checkpoint is probably the best save manager for switch.

Well since I had a SX OS device, I kept reading and being recommended to use XCIs since I had the ability too and it was supposed to be less of a chance of Nintendo detecting.

I had someone else mention that I don’t need to uninstall the existing Zelda as the new one should overwrite it, as long as the title ids are the same, I’m just not sure how to validate what their title ids are.

Using XCIs in their XCI form is safer (not safe). By installing them, you transform them to NSPs.
Don't validate it. Just install it. Either you will end up with "updated" zelda or with a new one to which you can restore old saves.

My saves have always stuck even after trying different versions of the same game, as that saved data goes to my internal storage. Should be fine.

Thanks everyone, I installed checkpoint and I backed up my save really easily.

I then installed the Zelda XCI that included the 2 DLC packs and it simply over-writ the existing Zelda, easy peasy.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
