a translation is more of changing the data that gets loaded by the game, a save file is a bunch of values that get read by the game, a translation is a simple change to the data inside the game, it has nothing to do with the mechanic that the game uses to load the save data, which concludes to a "YES", the jap save is compatible with the translated game.

Nice to know! I already encountered translated games where the savefiles were different.

if you mean localized games, then yeah, they change the mechanic to avoid people from transfering saves from one region to another.

Well the oreimo translation project is a fanmade translation and the savegames are not compatible.

that's weird, maybe they messed up and overwrote some stuff ?

some games gets too much data on their save and thus it's making a corruption between what's supposed to be on screen and what was on the savedata.
But usually, it works all the time.

There is not a partially translated patch available. Right now the ones we have made for internal use break a whole bunch of things in the process.

I can figure that saves can break if character sets are edited or names are hacked so they can be longer etc.

You mean this? From what I've seen it's still in development and still manages to look more SAO-ish than Eternal World.

Just found the IndieDB page, the concept art is making me laugh a lot.
Seems nice, didn't knew there were so many SAO fan games.

That one looks a lot better than any I've found so far. Guessing the translation group will finish before them, though
