Did you enable debug mode? If not, to enable debug mode, add debugmode=1 to the hekate_ipl.ini under the Launch Configuration you want to use.
Sweet baby Jesus that was it.

I just learned about the R4s dongle and I'm tempted to buy it, but before I do I have some questions.
I'm currently on the latest ofw so is the dongle my only option for cfw at the moment? From what I've seen so far with the dongle and Reinx I'll be able to launch some sort of cfw until I do a full power on/off to get back on ofw (right?). With that I can launch homebrew, use RetroArch, use custom themes and I believe backup games and use save editors. Am I right so far?
Would I be able to mod games like Skyrim and Botw with layeredfs? If I wanted to go online to play MK8 with friends or Diablo III can I without getting banned?
I don't want to pirate anything I just want to modify the games I currently own and play some old GBA and SNES games.
I thought I could go back to ofw to go online by rebooting the switch to remove ReiNX. Unless I miss heard/read that.correct, except you could use ReiNX or Atmosphere.
LayeredFS is more of an atmosphere thing so I'ld go with that if you wanted mods.
Online = Nono, that's a big ban risk, even using 90dns which blocks nintendos servers and restricts some online play. (LAN play is fine)

I wouldn't mind not going online but once Smash Bros comes out I know I'll want to play that online.
Thanks for all the help. As tempting as getting cfw is I think I'll wait till there's a way to go online with it like 3DS.best thing to do is make a clean nand backup before you use CFW by following this guide, using Cfw then restoring your nand. It isn't guaranteed to be 100% safe though

But thanks again for answering my questions!
Given that people have been banned for using a save manager on Splatoon without even modifying the save file, I would say it is detectable.
As far as I know, these keys are hardcoded into the system so unless the system becomes physically compromised, these should be retrievable no matter what.

You didn't see my reply, which is ok, but if I make NAND backup of my current status of my switch, and do what I said in the comment above, will i be ok since I have not been banned at all? I really haven't installed any nsps, wiped my error logs once, without knowing why I shouldn't do it. So you wouldn't need a NAND backup after playing LayeredFS, correct? Because you'd want all your savedata to be there right after playing online and stuff. Or am I wrong on this as well? I'll do what you told me to do, and make a NAND backup before and after playing with CFW, so Nintendo will see that I really haven't done anything else. But I am a little nervous, though. So if I load back to the NAND backup after doing CFW and making a NAND backup of the CFW NAND, will I be ok? Thanks for all your help so far man! I think I'll be fine in the long run, since Nintendo hasn't banned me yet. But anything's possible.Did you check if it was fake? If you did not, use a tool like FakeFlashTest.
Good question. Maybe just mark each Nintendo folder for each respective console?so how do i know what folder in nintendo on the sd that correlates to which game?
Are you trying to launch them in OFW? If not, which CFW did you install them under?so guys i have an issue since today i couldt find a solution for quickly. or maybe i just do't know for what to google. I installed Donkey Kong and Tennis Aces nsp. but when launching my switch says "This Software Cannot Be Played. The Nintendo Account Used to Purchase This Software Has Been Unlinked" any hints? all the other games previously installed are launching and running.
Apparently, LayeredFS is enabled by default in the "CFW" Launch Configuration. Wish they made that a little more discreet.in the new payload (4.2) It says NO LAYEREDFS. How do I get it to say LayeredFS and work?
*Also my hacks are in the correct folder*
If you want to be safe, you will have to be constantly making new NAND backups every time you intend to go from legitimate online to play to offline hacking. In order to preserve your hacks, you can either back up the individual parts such as saves with a save manager or perform another NAND backup just for the hacks. If you are going with the latter scenario, making a backup with the ReiNX toolkit is more favorable than Hekate since the NAND will be tainted anyways plus the ReiNX toolkit dumps the NAND much faster than Hekate. You didn't see my reply, which is ok, but if I make NAND backup of my current status of my switch, and do what I said in the comment above, will i be ok since I have not been banned at all? You can update your firmware without burning fuses using the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX although it installs AutoRCM as a precautionary measure to avoid fuses from being burnt. However AutoRCM can be a boon in the right hands if managed properly. So I see that hacks and homebrew mostly work up to latest Firmware release, and currently I'm on 2.00 with my switch. With that said, would it be worth to start adding in one of the current cfw or waiting for the something more solid with coldboot?
Theres not a whole lot of homebrew I cant live without and the autorcm stuff sounds a bit more tedious than I'd like, but would it make things easier for a more permanent option once there is one?
I have absolutely no idea where you downloaded a "hekate fspatches v3.bin" but I'm going to take a stab and say its severely outdated so I'll instead recommend you download a more up-to-date CFW package from https://www.sdsetup.com/Hi folks,
Hopefully some kind soul can help point me in the right direction. I updated my Switch from 4.1 to 5.1 this afternoon using ChoiDujour NX. i thought I'd read all the steps correctly, but have a feeling I've skipped something or messed up. I selected to install 5.1 with exFat, as I already had the exFat from a previous update to allow use of larger SD cards. The install seemed fine, until the reboot, whereby I was just left with a black screen. I reconnected my usb cable, and injected "hekate fspatches v3.bin", and this all works fine, I then select "preventGCUpdate from the launch firmware option, I hear the usb disconnect sound, the switch logo appears, then goes black. After a while I just get the battery charge is 99% in the top left corner, and then it eventually tells me "The card cannot be read...".
Any suggestions? I've read some people had issues with the exFat stuff, and just re-installed the same version of the FW, i.e. 5.1 in my case, but I can not get into my Switch homebrew menu via the Album option to try re-installing, or any of my homebrew apps. I tried another SD card, as I wondered if it had flipped back to FAT32 , but that initially moaned about the missing hekate_ipl.ini - I copied this over to the alternative SD card, and it then wouldn't let me select an option from the launch firmware menu, stating something along the lines of fat file/format missing, or words to that effect. I thought this at least seemed to imply it was supporting exFat, so reformatted the spare card, and as yet have had no joy. I simply can't get loaded up with either card and be able to run any homebrew options within the album, I just get greeted with your card can not be read...
Thanks in advance
Royster
Are you trying to launch them in OFW? If not, which CFW did you install them under?
The official Atmosphere doesn't support those types of files. Either use the unofficial Atmosphere labeled CFW or use ReiNX.no, Im using cfw, tumGER's sdfiles, hekate4.2 booting atmosphere 0.7.2
also doesn't work with new SXOS Beta.
all my prior installed games are working, but now im getting issues installing nsps showing me "Error processing files", my keys are in place. i dumped them with hekate converting them with kezplez.
Used dOPUS/n1dus to install nsps and xcis
that's strange. i always booted cfw from tumGER's sd files. worked always like a charm. The official Atmosphere doesn't support those types of files. Either use the unofficial Atmosphere labeled CFW or use ReiNX.
