ok I did that. Once i opened pegaswitch in command window, I did the npm install install and it gave me a Err! and then after i did node start.js and got an error. What did I do wrong? I'm following the tutorial step by step and don't see a ip address.
This isn't a PegaSwitch-related issue. This is due to something else possibly on your computer using port 80. I highly recommend looking up ways related to port 80 issues as this is more of a user-specific issue (depending on what programs you have installed and running). The solution for this will depend on what exactly is preventing your Switch from listening to your computer and as such, there is no solution on GBATemp that can be given to you nor I can give you.

ok thanks for letting me know. I tried the rig + rcm tutorial on my 2.0.0 Switch. I replaced/installed the driver that was mention to install and when I click on the boot_cfw_Win it says no devices were found. Now I know I followed it right. my laptop keeps kicking out the Switch device so don't know if its the problem but i keep trying it and nothing happens. Any help with it.
Edit:
also when i opened pegaswitch cmd and did the npm install, it said no git binary found in $path. failed using git, please check if i have git installed and in my path.

So it seems I can't get either to work on my 2.0.0 Switch. also when i tried putting it in RCM mode I keep seeing it as SWITCH in devices and not APX, could that be the issue? it's funny because I do have my rig in, and held the + volume button with power and only keep seeing it as Switch when it pops up but with my laptop, all devices (usbs, sd cards/mirco sd) keep getting not recognized -like i put in my 1tb external hd or my sd card & it keeps disconnecting from it. it sucks because I have so many sd cards and hds that are messed up and cant use anymore :(

@Draxzelex you mentioned that there is a backup loader available for the latest firmware but it’s not user friendly.
Is there a link to configure / setup this loader?

I would really wait a couple of days for SX if you are not that tech-savvy and just want to play backups (or wait some more time until Atmosphare is released and gets backup loading)

The current solution is more of a proof of concept as you replace one game with another, which basically works but it's the oppsite of user-friendly ;-)

Hello everybody,

is there any point in staying on 4.1? I wanted to try the new backup loading method but for that I would have to download a title from the eshop, which I can't enter (as far as I know) on 4.1. Should I just update or could I miss out on something by updating?

I'm completely new to the whole switch homebrew thing.

Appreciate any info from the geniuses on here! I have a switch on 3.0 that doesn't have the micro sd card update. I understand that creating an emunand is 32 gb - so I could just about squeeze it onto an sd card that works - but then there wouldn't be any space for anything else? I'm a bit of a noob and wouldn't even attempt to get the update via the way I saw on here, does anyone know if there will be an easy way to get the update so i can use a bigger card?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I get that the accepted wisdom is "DO NOT UPDATE," but what about 5.0.2 to 5.1.0? Are there any developments right now that would make keeping 5.0.2 advantageous? I want to update and grab some eShop games/DLC before I take the Switch completely offline. I'm not interested in "Don't update" responses, I'm curious what the tangible difference between 5.0.2 and 5.1.0 are in terms of homebrew (specifically RetroArch and backups). Is there any known quantity advantages to 5.0.2? Should I do a eMMC dump of 5.0.2 then update to 5.1.0, then reinstall HBL or will everything carry over after the update?

In this topic you can read about the firmware differences. At the end it's your decision if you update or not. Lower firmware probably offers more entry points for hackers in the future.

Look here. Some people reported formatting the sd card to FAT32 works.

Thanks for the info! But there would still be an issue with putting on larger than 4gb files this way, is that correct?

So, I have a Brand New Switch with 3.0.2.

I have Zero Games and Never connected to WiFi lol.

What can I do with it right now? Does homebrew work? At least an emulator or something?

I preordered SX PRO but it will arrive in July or August. Anything I can do right now?

Thanks!

How high are the chances of getting banned if I hack my switch?
Somewhere between 1% and 99%

The Switch is potentially not in RCM if its not being picked up as an APX device. Are you sure that the Nintendo logo does not show up when you press vol + and power while the jig is inserted? Also which tutorial are you following? I find this one to be most up-to-date: https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-1-x-5-x-how-to-run-homebrew-on-your-nintendo-switch.506529/

As far as we know, there are no differences when it comes to exploits for 5.0.2 and 5.1. Traditionally, the lower the firmware the better mantra is used because statistically lower firmwares have more vulnerabilities than higher firmwares. But, since no fuses are burnt between 5.0.2 and 5.1, you can keep a dump of your 5.0.2 NAND whilst updating to 5.1. If there is ever an exploit that works on 5.0.2 but not 5.1, you can restore your 5.0.2 NAND (not downgrade). However, this only works up until Nintendo releases another system update that burns another fuse which we cannot predict.

Its a long list that includes save editing to WIP emulators to a very un-friendly backup launcher (it acts more like a backup swapper). I would recommend checking the Tutorials section to set the Switch up then possibly the Emulators section for some nifty tools.

Can we restore full eMMC dump made by latest version of Hekate ? I tried Choidujour but my switch hangs after Nintendo logo.

UPDATE: I made a stupid mistake. Everything works fine now.

Any confirmation if i can get the SX license of my SX Pro without the actual thing? Like via email or something. I think mine would ship in a week or 2.

  • Q: Is SX OS tied to my console/dongle?
    A:
Yes. In case of SX Pro the license is tied to your dongle and console. In case of SX Lite the license is tied to your license code and console.
To be fair, the dongle is superior towards any other method of sending payloads so while I can see why they did this, you have to really hope you never lose the dongle.

Hey guys! Can I only connect my switch to my pc via USB 3.0? I read that in one place but I've never seen mentioned in any other place! Thanks
The only connection that the USB can make with the Switch is when it is in RCM and the only usefulness out of that is sending payloads to do any number of things. There is no way to do any typical file transfer via a USB connection as the USB port on the Switch is solely a charging port.

Well, that was lazy of me, didnt search enough. Thanks, tho.

Btw, how could the license be tied to my console?

The license file is probably pre-installed into the dongle just like the payload that boots into their CFW. The next part is speculation because they're vague on how activation differs between Pro and Lite. You supposedly go into Album on the Switch to activate your license and if you have multiple licenses (like one on the SD Card and one on the dongle), it may allow you to choose which one to activate. As they have stated, you can use the dongle for multiple Switches to load the CFW, but to use the CFW, there needs to be a properly activated license whether its on the dongle or the SD card. Now most users probably don't care, but I think its a good question.

Im on 4.1.0, but i would like fallout shelter and when i try to access eshop, it yells me i have to update my firmware first.

I would like to eventually use atmosphere, as soon as its possible, and ive always read not to update past 4.1.0 but things have advanced the past few months and i would like to know if its safe to update or not..

Ive tried looking into it and reading up on things but everything seems to go off topic, and i just end up confused. I kinda wanna know a definate answer, if possible, and if not possible, then a pros/cons of updating the firmware vs staying on 4.1.0 (aside from not getting fallout shelter haha)
