Hi, been on a bit of a journey trying to update atmosphere today..
I genuinely have no idea how else to get the latest sigpatches for the latest atmosphere. I was directed to the AutoIPS sig Patcher tool to generate my own. I finally found a working download, downloaded the tool and have no idea how to use it.
I tried downloading python to do it manually instead but python did not accept the first line of code I typed into it (as per the guide). Please help if anyone can, I'm just trying to get sigpatches... I don't mind how!
Thanks

EDIT: solved thanks to @impeeza and friends on another thread

so is emunand worth doing if yes whats the best guide to doing it

Yes, your should definitely run on emmunand. If anything happens you dont want it happening to your Sysnand. Keep your Sysnand clean and you can still go Online with it and even sell your unhacked Switch to someone else later down the road with a clear conscience that it’s absolutely stock.

For a guide fortified with iron and vitamin d2 that tastes great go here:

https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

I recommend you read the topics in the Getting Started section before moving on to picking you scenario under CFW Guides and installing a partition based emummc.

Ok, so I was having an issue with the Mario Strikers update not installing on yuzu, and I wanted to post the solution here for any that may have trouble in the future. (This also solved my issue with Mario Kart staying at the opening screen with the flag waving, before he says "Mario Kart 8!!!!!!")

I did redump my keys, but it wasnt working. Last night actually, I just restarted the process and redumped the game, updates, firmware, and I also dumped some other games that I dont intend on playing on yuzu, but just to sort of trouble shoot if they would have the same issue. I still couldnt get the Strikers update to install. I also noticed the prod.keys was the exact same size as the key I previously dumped.

After some googling, I did see that an update failing to install on yuzu was linked to prod.keys. I remembered that when I first homebrewed, I was on the 13.x.x firmware. At a later time I updated the version of atmosphere and hekate to dump something else and becuase my switches firmware had been updated, but I never updated lockpickRCM.

I figured it was worth a try, so put the latest version of lockpickRCM, redumped my keys, and saw the prod.keys had increased in size with the newer version on lockpickRCM. I popped that into yuzu, and strikers updated just fine.

I guess this is relevant then.

I had a corrupted SD card, so I bought a new one and was lucky enough to be able to retrieve the whole Nintendo directory (/emuMMC/RAW1/Nintendo) from the old card. Is there anything I can do with that Nintendo folder to restore the games in there?

Edit: nevermind. I'll reinstall it all manually. Blah.

Hi folks,

Got some DLC for a game yesterday. The DLC is recently released so required an update of my FW and CFW (Atmosphere). Went through a long process learning how to dump my keys and then generate my own sigpatches. Phew, seems to have worked out.

However, DLC is still not working. When I go to open the game, it says "Unusable downloadable content or update data was found. You will need to connect to the internet and check for more information."

Presuming the DLC nsp was not corrupt in any way, what could be the problem here?

Thanks

Edit: I am on FW 14.1.2 running Atmosphere 1.3.2|S

Is there a way to overclock the GPU past 460 in handheld mode? I'm using the latest firmware and Atmosphère 1.3.2 sys-clk 1.0.1-5 and can set different clock speeds in the Tesla overlay but nothing above 460 on GPU works (CPU and RAM overclock fine)
Found the info here https://gbatemp.net/threads/sys-clk-under-overclocking-sysmodule.531372/ which indicates you need a charger attached for 768 and official charger for higher I just wonder if there's a way to override this limitation.

Hiya, I am wondering if someone with an up-to-date hacked Switch wouldn't mind helping me out with something a bit beyond posting here, maybe over Discord. I have received a hacked switch from a buddy of mine who hasn't touched his in years. He also accidently updated the firmware. I have fixed that and got it into RCM and booted, however even though the hb menu launches, and games already installed launch, no hb apps will launch without an error code. I would like to preferably start from scratch with it and I have no clue how to go about cleaning it up and doing so with the latest accepted apps and tools. Any help or directions to help would be greatly appreciated.

I think all you would need to do is point the new emummc.ini file to the old Nintendo folder once you put it on the new SD card.

Did you update the game as well?
Hi is there any new cheatcodes for Super smash bros ultimate? or fully unlocked save data? thanks
Not sure what you mean by fully unlocked save data, but this person's save file has all of the characters unlocked.

Well if you want to start over, that's as simple as deleting all of the files on your SD card. As for how to set it up afterwards, that's also really easy. There are a plethora of well-written text-based guides that you can follow but the one I always recommend is this one as not only was it the first guide but its also been constantly updated.

Very helpful, thanks. I did wipe the SD card and reset it up however now when I launch into the album for hbmenu, it just relaunches Atmosphere. Any clue why that would happen ? Trying to boot into Hekate also just launches Atmosphere as well.

Hi all,

I have a launch Switch softmodded to use Atmosphere emuNAND with 13.2.1 with sigpatches.

I want to update to the latest Switch on 14. What does this process look like nowadays? Do I have to hunt update files online or is there a homebrew app for this now?

What are the proper precautions I can take to back up my emuNAND in case I botch the update so that I can restore it at its current state?

Once updated, how do I obtain the proper sigpatches for 14? I saw the recent DMCA takedown notice so I'm not sure what's the recommended method now.

Yeah, I installed the nsp of the latest update, and I'm pretty sure it worked because the startup screen for the game displays an ad for the very same DLC I am trying to install. So, presumably only the latest update would have that ad in it.
If it helps to know which game I'm dealing with I can DM you

I'm not sure what's the best offline way to update the Switch FW as I tend to just connect to the nintendo servers to update mine. But then I don't mind being banned. I'm sure someone else here can point you in the right direction...

To backup your NAND, try getting the latest version of hekate and using this guide: https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/emummc/making_emummc/
(apologies if this is not quite what you are talking about, I'm not an expert)

In terms of sigpatches, you now have to make your own, which this thread can walk you through:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-create-your-own-sigpatches.616288/
I found it a bit of a steep learning curve personally but the people on the thread were really helpful walking me through it (as you'll see if you scroll through all three pages, haha).

You will always have to look for the files yourself because the files are copyrighted material. If a homebrew application could get them for you, it would be considered illegal. Either way, you will have to use the homebrew application Daybreak to update the firmware which comes bundled with Atmosphere.

If you make a backup of your emuMMC with Hekate, then you can restore that in the event the update fails however that is extremely unlikely.

All you do is make your own. These tools have always been available but people are just lazy so they never tried to make their own. You can use this tool assuming you have Windows.
Yes, I do. Although it is weird, I turned autoboot off and now instead of Atmosphere, the album is loading Hekate, which is nicer but still not what I want obviously haha.
Do you have a reboot_to_payload.nro file on the root of your SD card? If not on the root, is it anywhere else on your SD card? It sounds like instead of launching hbmenu.nro, its launching reboot_to_payload.nro. If you get rid of that file, it should fix your issue. Don't worry, you can always reboot to a payload by using the Restart function from the Power menu while in CFW.

I'm not sure why you cannot just name drop the game here but I suppose you have your reasons and it won't help me much either unless I've personally played or have experience with the game. In any event, based on the one other user who appears to have had this issue from my search, it could be a regional thing. The issue was never resolved in that case but it was the conclusion that OP and one other user ended up reaching. This was the thread in case you were curious.

Oh good, wasn't sure if naming games was legit in here or not :D it's Cuphead, and the DLC is The Delicious Last Course. But yeah, as you said that probably isn't gonna help, and from that thread you linked me it seems like there's probs nothing to be done about it.
Thanks anyway!

In the past I've been accustomed to homebrew that pulls the files from the official DL servers in order to circumvent this and "keep it legal". Good to know, though.

I do have Windows. Will give that a try. Making a backup first. Unlikely or not; I got good at working with tech from it constantly breaking -- so I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

Great stuff; thanks for the quick reply.

I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway

    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
