It's pretty much a 100% chance. If the Switch is on 4.1.0, you can still hack it as long as you don't update it.
But to know for sure, i have to inject a payload then sees if anything happens ??

Use the ranges in the first post. XAW400071, assuming it is typed correctly with those three zeroes, would probably be unpatched. Serials between XAW40000000000 - XAW40011000000 are safe to buy.
XAW10074736842 is probably unpatched.
Some new Switch systems still come on 4.1.0, but it's rare. Some new Switch systems even come unpatched, but that's also rare. Check the serial numbers before making any purchases and try to get an unpatched one above all else.
You can check by injecting a payload, but based on your serial number, your Switch has a 100% chance of being patched.
- If your Switch is on 4.1.0, you can hack it today using the web browser. Do not update it.
- If your Switch is on 5.0.0-7.0.1, it will be hackable at some point in the far future using the web browser. If I were you, I'd sell it and get an unpatched one. If you are going to keep it, do not update it.
- If your Switch is on 8.0.0 or higher, it might never be hackable, and I would sell it.
It's unlikely, but it's possible. Always check the serial number before making a purchase.

Eventually, it should be hackable as long as you don't connect to the internet between now and then. However, it's likely going to be awhile. I'd recommend selling the Switch and getting an unpatched one.
i won't connect to internet, i can wait, but i will just buy one good game and keep busy with that one :C

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one -

I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it! -

I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
