It's recommended that you sell it and get an unpatched system. If 8.1.0 is ever hacked, it'll probably be years, and it might never happen. There's nothing in the pipeline for 8.0.0 and higher on patched systems.
If you haven't purchased a Switch yet, you should look for one that is unpatched. You can do this by comparing the serial number to the first post before making a purchase. If you don't compare the Switch's serial number before making a purchase, there's a good chance it will be patched.
- XAJ700402 is likely unpatched.
- XAJ700405 is likely patched.
- If you haven't purchased the system yet, you could look for another Switch that isn't likely to be patched.
- If you have purchased the Switch, check if it's patched. If it's patched, return it and try again.

There isn't a lot of data on Korean serial numbers, so I could be wrong, but it looks to me like it's likely patched. You should test it out.
does black joycon systems have a higher chance at being older unpatched systems?
ive tried asking nicely to people on offer up for the first 8 numbers of the serial with no luck. i gave in and just bought a decent bundle, a mint system with mario odyssy lets go eve w/pokeball a carrying case and a zelda themed controller for 300. at 7pm on Thursday, went to gamestop preordered SMM2 and picked it up at 9pm. already beat the story mode so i guess ill try to sell thesystem with lets go evee and then only settel for a unpatched system even if i have to go to peoples houses and check the numbers in person until i find one

It's almost certainly patched. I'd return or sell it and get a new one that is unpatched. If it's on 4.1.0, you can hack it if you don't connect it to the internet or update. If it's on 5.x-7.x, it will be hackable in the distant future as long as you don't connect it to the internet or update. If it's on 8.x, it's unhackable.
XAW7002 is probably patched, based on the spreadsheet.

Probably patched means that there is a chance that it's patched, but it can also be not patched.
