this one right? or whatever is the packaging on your region..
Yeah, just mine came with Neon Blue and Red instead of Pink and Green, and its EU.
Also hm i cant seem to find my serial, where is it?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Yo found it,
Nintendo Switch + Splatoon 2 Bundle
Serial: XAJ4001 (is this enough?)
Firmware it came with: 2.1 i believe but it was below 3.0 for sure
System Color: Neon Red and Blue (not the new green and pink one)
Region: EUR (Germany)
Oh and it was purchased the day after spla2ns release which is 22/7
So for anyone who wants to buy the splat bundle, i think you are safe (i hope!).

Uhm, I don't know?
Is that your serial number?

It looks for me like only the first four numbers matter, after that the serial number is probably console unique.
I will edit the OP to only include the first 4 numbers.
My console is a romanian import. [PAL] Does that change anything?

I guess.
But just like with the other systems. The new firmware wont be on the shelf until months from now.
As fast as the switches are selling out they dont have tine to update firmware

I don't think that will change anything, but like I said, I am no expert for switch serial numbers. My guess
is as good as yours. I just thought that making a thread was a good idea to collect serials.

Actually the first 5 letters do not matter by themselves (which you can see, because the same ones have different firmware).
Serial number decoding:
X: From NX. It's actually the platform code.
A: It's the hardware code. A: Switch, B: Joy-Con (L), C: Joy-Con (R). And I assume D for Pro (check the plastic sliver that came with, if it exists).
J/W: West or Japan? Probably the region that was supposed to reach. Maybe with all the pre-orders and the after-launch demand, they just sent them everywhere to keep people happy. Or, at some point they weren't Region-free.
10/14/40/70: Factory made or assembled?

So the best way to know, would be the 3rd-5th characters and on what million (m)/thousand (k) you are.

E.g my switch:
Made on:
J70
Batch:
2.7m
Version:
v1.0

or just J70 2.7m v1.0

Nope.
With J70 2.7m v1.0, I meant a faster way of reporting it, instead of saying "made on j70", "it's batch 2.7million" and "the version that came with is v1.0".

Example with a random serial number:
Lets say I have XAJ70002712345 and it came with version 2.3.

I report here: J70, 2.7m, v2.3

-------------

Again XAJ70 says in what factory this switch was made.
And 002712345 show in which order you switch was made.
Another example: If you have XAW10 and 000000001, then congratulations, you have the first switch that was made in factory 10 and was originally for West region.

-------------

Disclaimer:
J/W is assumed and the 2 digits following may mean another thing:
Manufacturer 10, factory located at west or japan.
The last 9 digits may be semi-random, but I doubt it, because in here there are already reported switches that are in the 10 million batch and all have new (2.1 - 2.3) firmware baked.
That's why we need million and thousands.

I suppose Europe is considered to be part of the Japanese Empire..... (as almost every European Switch I've seen is XAJ) /s
Or perhaps Japan provided all of the consoles for Europe? No idea...

PS: Well, I will update my serial number as you proposed.
