We've seen quite a few leaks, renders and mockups of the so-called "Nintendo Switch 2" recently which could indicate that the official announcement is imminent. After a period of silence, Nintendo has finally addressed these leaks. Speaking to CNET Japan, the company said something along the lines of the following (based on Google Translate): "the gaming hardware that Genki claims to be Nintendo hardware at CES is informal and not what Nintendo provided to the company."

Nintendo has also issued a similar statement to the Japanese publication Sankei. A Nintendo representative said the following to Sankei: “These images and videos are not official.”

On the other end of the leaks, Genki has provided some clarifications after stirring up the gaming community. Speaking to online outlet Game*Spark, they noted that their "Switch 2" models and accessories are based on leaks and that they have not actually seen the actual device.

This goes against what was initially implied by Genki and sows some doubt over the veracity of the leaks. We might only know the actual hardware when Nintendo decides to unveil the console, which hopefully will be in the coming months.

The hardware (CPU, GPU, ram) is known from people following notes in Nvidia software for months

The motherboard itself was leaked as well as photos of a dev unit running

The only things that aren't known right now for sure are the name and user interface

Nintendo can try to smoke screen this as much as they want, but the ultimate design and hardware of switch 2 are all out in the wild at this point

We just wait now for Nintendo to pull the trigger on an actual announcement

it could be a petabyte of internal storage & it still wouldnt be enough. expandable storage is always nice to have and especially necessary for a portable system in an age where developers seem to have forgotten how to make <30gb games

I know this is something that you don't want to hear, since you seem to hate external storage and all, but...

1 TB internal storage for the $649 Steam Deck model isn't as big as you think it is. Not in this day, where games can easily be 100-200 GB each, and even the smaller games are approaching a 30-50 GB average. Not to mention that a larger internal system storage = higher production cost, and we all know what people think of the digital-only $699 PS5 Pro.

Indie games are usually 1-5GB on the high end. Regardless, that's all the more reason systems should come with plenty of internal storage AND have options for expansion. Nintendo always cheaps out on internal storage and RAM, despite those being the least expensive components to include in greater capacity.
