FRAPS is a resource hog, OBS is good, Shadowplay works too for NVidia GPUs

Plus, FRAPS has a nasty watermark unless you pay

I found OBS to be a pain to record emulators, never could get it to capture things like Dolphin or RetroArch.

It really depends on the computer you run the thing on. I have tried lots in the past. I no longer use Fraps as it's a drain on my machine. OBS was ok but I did have issues with a choppy recorded video took a lot of tweaking to get it right. There was another one that i found, the name eludes me the issues with that was the files for 10 minute clips were like 10GB! It was a memory drain. I now use the gamer bar on windows 10.... I know right silly? it works for me out of the box and the clip sizes are quite small. Like i said you gotta try till you find the right one.

I use loom most of the time. But there are many really good screen records, I don't really see much difference. So you can check the review of different screen recording programs on https://www.movavi.com/support/how-to/mp4-recorder.html The thing I like about this list is that it is all free.

OBS is the only one i've used that can actually record decent videos on my crap PC.

I wanna recommend OBS because it is open-source live streaming software that allows users to capture and stream live video from any Mac, Windows, or Linux computer.

OBS is the holy grail of *anything* capture. Screen capture, camera, capture card, etc. It's basically a swiss knife.
