For now, this is our plan:
- need to re-do a dump, which means re-write from scratch the dumping (and inserting) tools. Inserting tools could in theory reuse Richburn's (the RHDN user) but they are tough to get in and not sure how they handle address changes...
- use Cue's DS decryption(+encryption) tool -
- while it would be a good idea to try and re-insert the Japanese text right away, "unfortunately" Cue's tools compress more than original tools, so need to check addresses first.
- then need to interpret the game's opcodes
- in these opcodes are actual pointers, which let the game handle text switches between male/female and other alternative texts. The addresses in these pointers are absolute so they will be impacted by the translation.
- that's when addresses upgrade for the Cue compression ratio have to be adapted, and re-insertion tested.
- then need to match the already done translation (which lacks opcodes) with the dump
- then need to change the addresses mentioned above
- then insert back & test...
It will be a hard task for a person alone, so if someone wants to help, they are welcome!
