Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima gets a launch trailer to promote its release this Friday

Sly Cooper and Infamous developer Sucker Punch has been working on their latest project for the past five years, and now, that game is almost ready for release. Ghost of Tsushima launches as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in a mere few days, on July 17th, with a new trailer published today to help hype its imminent release. Based in 13th century Japan, you play as Jin Sakai, one of the last samurai. who fights with a katana, travels on a horse, and wields a grappling hook. Ghost of Tsushima was originally planned for a release on June 26th, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, but was pushed back to this new date to ensure the game would be the best it could be on launch.

Game looks absolutely gorgeous, but I do hope it'll run on PS5 with some graphics/performance enhancements and no need to buy a PS5-specific copy. Or barring that, just come to PC a year after the PS4 release.

Sucker Punch is owned in whole by Sony I believe, and the box does say "only on Playstation." So I'd guess that if it's gonna come to PC at all, it'll be at least a few years.
I had a feeling that the people who made Horizon Zero Dawn are also totally owned by Sony. A quick look up shows me that yes, Guerrilla B.V. are a totally owned subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

That game is still coming to PC.. Steam even.

While people wait for the PC release, other people will probably get to play this game with 60 fps on PS5. 30 fps has got to get banned. All games need to be made with their machanics having 60 fps in mind.

Yeah that's why I said a few years at least, HZD was released 2017. Too much of a wait for me, especially considering I plan to buy PS5 anyway.

I agree, 60 FPS should be the bare minimum for each game's performance next gen, given that a lot of people will be expecting 120+ on 1440p displays. It won't surprise me though, if halfway through PS5/XBSX's life cycle, some developers start prioritizing visuals over performance again and we end up needing another "Pro" hardware refresh to keep pace.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
