No. Generally it is only useful at the beginning, here it’s really not useful at all (unless you want that sweet, sweet 4.1.0 coldboot). For example, for the 3DS early firmwares were required to run flashcarts, and then earlier firmwares were required to install A9LH so we had to downgrade which was only possible on certain old-ish firmwares. Nowadays, downgrading is useless (and impossible without K9) since smea’s 11.7 exploit (which I’m going to call smehax) will be completely free.
