I thought my copy of it was gone. I mean its been missing for more than 2 years. My version of it I was never able to find more than one time and i have no clue how I was able to keep it like i had. (probably because i lost it)

Well I was going through some boxes of some old computer stuff and I find one of those really old white SD cards that Nintendo sold with the Wii when it was first launched. I just kind of laughed and sat it on my desk. Close to 6 months later I see it again and decide to see if it still worked and what was on it. When I plugged it in and my project m loaded up my jaw dropped. lol

Its that project m: pratt edition. I was never able to find it ever again. For those of you that dont know, project m is like a fan made smash game which is kind of like a cross between melee and brawl. I dont know much about the pratt edition of it either. I just know that I played it for hours and hours.
im pretty sure it had about 300 characters on it. crazy fighters like michael jackson, shaq, ronald mcdonald and spiderman. iv spent so much time playing it lol

anyways I was excited and thought I would share

I remember. I actually still play a lot of Project M. I play a really cool build called Smash Bros. Legacy, which is actually still in development. See, the Brawl modding scene isn't dead yet! If you're going to try it, I recommend Smash Bros. Legacy XP, since Smash Bros. Legacy TE is for tournaments and Smash Bros. Legacy M 3.6 is old.

Yeah, I didn't either until I found Legacy. TBH I never knew about PM until Etika made a video on it. I found a mirror, downloaded it, and had a blast. Then I found Legacy. Also, did I mention that the latest build of Legacy XP, 2.0 BETA, adds RIDLEY as a playable character?

Just know that if you're downloading it, you'll need an 8 GB SD Card or larger. It's worth it, since Legacy XP adds 8 more fighters, 700 (!) additional stages, and a number of new modes to the game. Plus, remember the announcer for Melee? He's the announcer for Legacy XP too!

In my opinion, Project M is the best smash game out of the five (Project M included). Don't get me wrong, I adore Melee and Smash 64, 64 being my favorite to watch, I just think that there is something special about a game being worked on for six years and being adopted by almost everyone as an official smash game. I play it everyday and i don't see myself slowing down anytime soon. I just hope one day, Nintendo will acknowledge its existence and give the team that worked on it the recognition they deserve.

Project M is what got me into competitive Smash, following the development of it was one hell of a ride. I started way back when 2.1 was just released. I never thought I could be so passionate about a fan game.

It's a better game than both Brawl and 4, in what it attempts to accomplish at least. Nowadays I use Legacy TE as my go to (Legacy XP is cool but crashes way too much, very frustrating when friends are over). My avatar, "Hood Diddy", is actually from XP.

I'm a Smash enthusiast and I've never even HEARD of Legacy XP.
Thanks to this thread, I downloaded it and so far I love it.
I've been using basic PM3.6 for a long time. This is great! Thanks, guys. :D

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
