not true... when I first got my wiikey I couldn't play my shop-bought Mario Galaxy... had to update to 1.9g first

You must have done something else wrong, because original games can not detect wiikey, unless the original games would pretend to be copied games, which again would make them unplayable on an unmodded wii. Original Mario Galaxy works fine on 1.9b... wonder why you post wrong statements...

Just a titsy bitsy Q: On the "official" Wii Region Patcher Compapility List (I´ve looked on the PAL-list), there´s one thing that´s disturbing: At the bottom, it says " Dairantou Smash Brothers X works (3.1E, WiiKey 1.9g) ←.
To the Q: I´m not so good at Wiki & stuff - can anyone have filled in that page?

In that case, it´s probably just a prank of some sort, but the TMD release is confirmed a fake, right?

Well.. there were comments that the disk was a fake on the torrent (I had the TMD release)
burnt it myself... you can see what happened on the front page..

btw.. that PAL/USA to JAP list needs updating... I cant be much help with my chip

SSBB JP version arrive in Taiwan and HK
someone tested with original game disc

1.Wiikey 1.9g + jp wii console can't play the game(not bakup game. Yes you can't play the game
with wiikey-modded wii)
(someone says that he turn off wiikey-modchip , then he can play SSBB.)
2.d2cpro/d2ekey +jp wii console can play the game(not bakup game)
3.LG dvd rom can't recognize the game disc (so there are no backup )
4.the game included 3.1J update
5.some(not very much) people talk that they can't play the game with no-moded wii(poor guy)

note:
normally, if you put the original game dicc to wii, the main screen show "update" , after update complete, you can play the game.(SSBB. jp version include update )

you can read the blog(there are some pics), it says he try every methods that he can find (include update wii from net, power off wii) . 1 hour later , wii still couldn't recognize SSBB ....

even tho it says 3.1 there is an update like SMG on there which apparently has bugs so could be that what's causing the problems.

I woundn't consider the news is fake because I've been on ptt.cc (the largest BBS in Taiwan),too.
There are also quite a few people who bought their original copies this afternoon/evening on these forums which stormyuan mentioned, reporting they are not able to play their SBB on their modded Wii with Wiikey 1.9.

They are saying that by solving this issue, you have to turn off your Wiikey (if you have a swith on your Wiikey) or take it off to be able to play SBB.

it's gone, nobody knows. but the d2ckey team programs the updates so no worries.

i cant see nintendo making originals not work... even on modded Wii's. Its not their style #1 and #2 do they really want people not BUYING thier games..

I can see new copy protection that will stop the backups from working.. but the originals??? I dont know

Oh damnit! I don't have a switch for my Wiikey and I don't want to take it out!!


Hopefully, the Wiikey team can come up with a shut off method, like:
- Insert new config disc
- Turn chip off w/ the disc
- Shut off takes effect on the next boot
- The boot after, chip gets turned back on

Or they can just do a work around like they did w/ Galaxy

But damn, this means I won't be able to play this game during the first week or two.
