This is a bug, ppl who buy SSBB get this paper with it:

So I think they can't play the game with modded Wiis because of this bug, not a protection .. Get better sources idiots.

Obviously we have to take this with a grain of salt, but the reality is, it's very likely that Brawl will have a new protection. I mean, why wouldn't it?

If anything, all things should be solved/cracked somewhere by the end of the week. I don't see a problem in this at all. And I also believe this so called "protection" is just the bug that Nintendo has already mentioned rofl.

Well obviously all they want to detect is the chip. If they detect it they won't allow you to play the biggest Wii game of 2008, and possibly of its lifetime.

I don't think Nintendo is saying, "Oh they already cracked Galaxy's protection, so let's just give up and give m Brawl"

Well ive think if this really is a protection i cant see why they did it for the WiiKey and all these D2B/D2A/DMS Consoles.
Becurse these are OLD chipsets and there not optainable anymore.
But the D2C's are everywhere now and they are open since the D2C is sayd to work!
So why did they aim for the older chipsets and not the never ones??

If the D2Ckey perfectly emulates the drive controller, it will be unpatchable / detectable. If they use an unpatched drive command to detect the current D2A/B/DMS Chips, then it will be patched like Galaxy was.

What about legit copies. Not backups, but actual games bought from stores.

Now, this is an honest question, but everyone keeps saying that the chip detects if the game is real or not. If it is, the cip turns itself off, correct? Does anyone have actual proof that the chip actually turns itself off, or ???

I still don't see anyone here with a legit copy in their hands, a rip has not been released, etc. So we just don't know what's real or not. Just wait.

Most Japanese stores will be opening with Suma Bura (as the Japanese call it) on sale in just under 12 hours time. It'll be in many peoples hands by then and all will be revealed, I'm sure.

This disc is detected by Wii withOUT hesitation and the game boots up. Other than some audio problems during the FMV in the game (it's somewhat staticky(sp?)), and the odd frame drop here and there, the game runs as normal. So as far as I know, the Wii and the Wiikey can play DVD9s.

I think the problem is that the wii dvd drive firmware doesnt support DL DVDs, so it needs a kind of update, and that's the reason SSBB doesnt work when first booted in non modded Wiis.

The other problem is that the dump tools that release groups used doesnt support DL... So lets wait to see if they can fix it. I dont think any modchip will have problems with SSBB, well just region block problems (hope it works on PAL anyway).
