Idk if I should get a steam deck bcuz I already have a switch but my pc is an AIO Lenovo pc (idk what model) so should I get it? It's just such a high price

Are you out and about often? Do you share your PC with your family? If you don't have a reliable PC or even other consoles outside of the Switch, there's decent enough reason to buy a Steam Deck.

If you're looking at it just for the cool factor, or your PC can already kind of handle lots of games, I'd save your money. The Steam Deck is amazing, but it doesn't mean you need it if you have lots of games to play already.

1) What's the spec of your current PC?
2) Do you struggle to play the games you want to play on your PC?
3) Are you interested in handheld PC gaming?

I say the latter because if you just want a more powerful system than what you own and considering you think the £349 is expensive, there may be better options available which can deliver a better ROI such as a second hand system (desktop or laptop).

Get a ROG Ally instead. Much better than a steam deck, but more expensive also.

As a big fan of the Steam Deck, yes you should get a Steam Deck.

You say it's a high price but it's extremely competitive for its spec, especially the refurbished LCDs, though the OLED model is way better in my book. It's more a question of your budget; if it's the sort of thing it would take you a long time to save up for, (and I got that impression from you), then if you're comfortable waiting to save until you have the money and you think you'd get enough use out of it then you're the one who has to make the call. For me personally I used my LCD model every day and liked it enough that I even upgraded to the OLED model a couple of months ago and I still have a great time with it.

Remember it's a full PC and not just a console experience like the Switch, but it is also the closest to a console experience you'll likely get from a PC that runs PC games.

The only thing I keep hearing about any of the ROGs is that they are the best advertisements for the Steam Deck. I am not saying that as a Steam Deck fanboy or even as someone who owns one, just directly quoting what I've read/watched in reviews. Kind of why I went with the Steam Deck instead. The biggest selling point for me though was still SteamOS

The one deal breaker for me is the lack of touchpads.
It has a few benefits over the Steam Deck though. Runs cooler, quieter, it's more powerful, and I believe the new version has better battery life? I forget if there's anything else.

Get a laptop instead. Laptops are just better at everything. And if you already have a decent laptop, it really doesn't make sense to get a Deck.

Gaming laptops are kinda shit too. Every single one I’ve had from cheapish to boujie have failed me in less than a year

MSI stealth, keyboard dropped registering inputs after a month and the fans would either never spin or only be on 100% speed until reboot. No I between. Fans didn’t spin up to 100% at boot? You’re not gonna have any fans until your reboot and they get stuck on

Origin PC “Evo” laptop. GPU died in 6 months and they couldn’t source the part to fix it since they replaced my model with a new model…so they sent me an upgraded one for free that also arrived broken. (HDMI output did not work)

Asus zepherus 2023 model…this died on me 2 weeks ago I only had it for 6 months. This time the GPU also shit itself(I have video of it dying) and now only integrated graphics work.

Maybe razer is a better company….but idk anymore

if you're looking for a portable gaming pc that can handle most games decently, the steam deck is a solid pick. good balance of power and portability, plus steamOS works great. only downside is the high cost, but you get what you pay for.

Steam Deck OLED is actually an amazing value when you consider the price of an OLED monitor on its own, let alone an OLED HDR monitor. Moreover, Valve's HDR implementation is far superior to that of Windows. It's a no-brainer if you have a decent-sized Steam library.

I bought my brother's OG steam deck for 150 bucks when he got the OLED model. It's definitely not bad and I can play most of my steam games save for a few.
Wow, he almost gave it to you for free. Nice.

Have you tried Switch games? Seems it's very capable of it. I had a Switch years ago so the games I wanted to play I already did.

Mario Odyssey was pretty much Mario 64-2 and I loved it so much that I hope there's a sequel in development. Of course, Nintendo won't bother releasing it for the OG Switch, but its successor if anything.

If Mario Odyssey 2 were a launch game for Switch 2 that'd make me want to pre-order it soon as possible.

Depends on the game; some run better than others. Odyssey runs well, Mario Kart runs well, TotK runs but could be better. Some of that could be due to current emulator limitations, not sure.

For what it's worth, I typed this reply on my Deck.
