It's my biggest disappointment with the Switch 2 so far. I just joined the ranks of Switch 2 owners this week. Compared to what I have on my Steam Deck, "Gameshare" pales in comparison. Steam Link and Steam Remote Play Together are vastly superior and FREE. It's a damn shame too because there will be households where only one Switch 2 will be available. Having the ability to stream properly to a Switch 1 that's in a NSO family group should have been a priority feature.

Anyone else feeling the same way?

First off. Gameshare is a glorified version of DS Download Play. It's not like Steam Link. I can dock my Steam Deck in my bedroom, head to my living room, open Steam Link on my smart TV and just play. Full access to all my games streamed from one room to the next. No having to be super close to the host device to kick off the session.

Gameshare is purely for multiplayer sessions. You have to be very close to the host device to start the game and no, you can't stream your Switch 2 to a Switch 2 console you have lying around. Valve's offering is in a world above of Nintendo.

What you are describing isnt a thing for any console no? I mean Sony has their Portal but thats literally a handheld system.

You can game stream from a PS5, PS4, XBox One and XBox Series to other smart devices. Exactly like Steam Link.
Yes, because they aren't portable, so it makes sense for them to have such a feature. While the Steam Deck can do that, Steam Link and Steam Remote Play Together were made long before that. It's just the Deck benefits from it. But the simple fact is, you're streaming, and that's already going to come with reduced quality and even an increase in input latency. Even moreso when it comes to TV apps because they aren't as well equipped for it with slower processing and network hardware.

Huh never knew any services like that existed.

These services have been around for years. Logitech even made the GCloud handheld to make the whole process easier. Before the GCloud, most users would have to grab a Android or iOS device and a mobile controller.

Hmm I don't think I've ever streamed a game. Though I'm also that guy who still buys DVDs and Blu-rays and refuses to pay for streaming services.

I personally think that streaming games is extremely wierd. Why would I ever want to watch someone else play a game that I can play myself?

it just falls into the same line as the fake influencer groups who prey on the weak minded to conform to their weak minded fantasies.

offline play is king. why would i want to stream my gameplay to another device either.
