Scene dev Zecoxao teases new $3 modchip for the OLED Nintendo Switch, involves a Raspberry Pi

Scene developer Zecoxao might be known for their contributions to the PlayStation hacking world, but this time around, they've got something major for the Nintendo scene. The longtime scener teased the existence of what they claim to be a $3 modchip for the Nintendo Switch, and which is said to work with Mariko and OLED systems, though not patched Erista consoles. A teaser video was also uploaded, where the modchip itself was revealed to be a Raspberry Pi--specifically, a RP2040 Zero unit, soldered into the Switch board, demonstrating Hekate launching on an OLED unit.

Given the tease of "coming soon", we can expect to see more details about the exploit eventually.

Honestly I don't know how you guys got the idea that this is going to be released imminently. Just be patient.
Honestly, it's more the lack of communication that's a concern for me. This is a neat-looking project but seeing very little in the form of updates since the announcement really just doesn't build confidence in the project's future.

Can't say I expected it immediately... but some progress updates would be nice.

If anyone bought a system with the Zero already installed?

We can most likely dump the file from the Zero.

Just food for thought since these were supposedly being sold on craigslist or something.

As I've said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the guy got a nice little letter from our favourite company saying "no"

This seems legitimate, including video proof of some degree was released, and GBATemp staff has stated this to be real based on PMs they have received.

Is the actual developer/team known yet? It's definitely not zecoxao as he has explicitly stated he was not, and he mouthed GBATemp off as being incompetent over deleting the original thread (which staff has stated they deleted the thread as the developer asked them to).

However, on the flip-side he speaks about it in the first-person narrative. For example, when asked for any news he stated,

"no news, besides the fact that there's a bug in the payload that can cause a brick on the switches. so i need to wait until it gets fixed"⁽¹⁾

and when asked if it's real he states

"no, it's real, i just don't want people to brick their switch and complain to me for that"⁽²⁾

It sounds as if he's at least in control of it being released to a degree, but maybe not the head figure in charge of the project. Either that or he's fumbling his defense against Nintendo. After all this guy is not in the Nintendo scene. He's welcomed with arms wide open but I dont think he's entered. He might just be a tester with a bit more info than he lets on.

Why would ninjas be involved? Modchips are 100% legal in the EU. How else am I going to boot into ubuntu on my oled switch? :)
Good luck installing a HWFLY into one of those because it requires an additional step which is very tricky.
