As long as you use luma and you dont use an external firmware.bin. If you dont know what that is you're fine.hi all, i am currently using 11.2.0-35U with A9LH, is it safe to update? just kinda tired of seeing the update message everytime i turn on my 3ds
i havnt made a complete backup of my 3ds since i first did the whole A9LH process a year ago. how do i do it? srry! do i just copy contents of my micro sd or is there a better way? like a backup "image"Yup it's completely safe to update. The only thing that you have to update is the CIA Version of HBL and the payload for it.
But if you are unsure be sure you have an up to date backup. If not, make one.

I make my backup always in 2 parts. The first one is to copy my whole SD Card to my PC and the second is a NANDmin.bin backup. How do I get into hourglass 9? Is it a button combo at system boot? Also how do I update HBL CIA? Thanks for your help!!!!I make my backup always in 2 parts. The first one is to copy my whole SD Card to my PC and the second is a NANDmin.bin backup. Just follow these steps for the NAND Backup:
1. Boot into Hourglass9
2. Choose "SysNAND Backup/Restore"
3. Choose "SysNAND Backup
4. Do the Button Combo when prompted
5. Choose the Name (I always choose "NANDmin.bin")
6. Wait
7. Turn your 3DS off after the Backup is done (DONT TURN IT OFF WHILE DOING A BACKUP)
8. Copy "NANDmin.bin" and "NANDmin.bin.sha" from the "files9" folder to the PC
Thats about it. Come back if you still have problems!

And allows HBL to work with the Clock+L2 option as well.If you have a n3DS you will want to use the latest hourly (or at least https://astronautlevel2.github.io/Luma3DS/builds/Luma-5f8a6120.zip) as otherwise you won't be able to use the hbl cia without first turning off the clock+l2 option. Not to mention that 5f8a6120 partially fixes the framerate/stuttering issue that OOT has with 11.3.
And allows HBL to work with the Clock+L2 option as well.
With OOT, before that hourly you couldn't boot HBL with any payload at all, not even launching it from the home menu. That's what I just said.
