I need to install Bootmii and upgrade my HBC... should I run the hackmii 0.5 installer before or after this Safe Updater? Will the Safe Updater install Bootmii and upgrade my HBC or just download IOS's? Just want to make sure I do it right the first time...hehe
Run the Hackmii installer first to install Bootmii and upgrade the HBC, then run the Safe Updater and finally update your Wii Shop.

Hey man....did you read what I had posted earlier? The shop update absolutely breaks SDHC support (well, at least all of MY SDHC cards) in the Wii menu. I have read a few other reports of this as well, but I have not found a solution. Do you have any ideas?

This program is very good, BUT have a BIG problem:
The installer download a content and install, and keep doing this at when finish.

This isn't very good, because, if you lose internet signal (like a ISP problem) you cannot download the rest of the contents and can be a instead bricked Wii. This make the installer not so SAFE.
For example, Waninkoko installer, first download all the contents and after that, start to install.
Hope that when a future 4.3 version appears, the install will be like i mentioned before.

Where on earth did you get the idea that the app is downloading and installing at the same time? It downloads content first, then installs it. The onlly way to brick in reality is to have a power failure while the app is installing a critical component like the system menu or system menu IOS.

Yeah, I did read it, but that might be related to other things. Most other people don't seem to be having trouble.

Perhaps there are other IOSes updated by the new online update. How did you get the initial list? Perhaps you should do that again and check the other ones for changes so we know if there are other IOSes to be updated and can release a new Shop Installer and/or Safe Updater.

Oh, and somebody on another forum was having some trouble after an update, but then they used WiiSCU to update all the other IOSes it has control over except IOS60 and that fixed their problems. Perhaps looking at the most recent versions of those other IOSes will provide the key.

I want to update my wii to 4.2.
I have a 3.3U.
I downloaded a file called "IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched] [FreeTheBug]. Wad. This is really the patched IOS70? Should I install this IOS before or after the upgrade?
With this update the games that require updates 4.0/4.1 will try to update the firmware?

Hi,

Just doing my research before I possibly go ahead and use the safe updater to go from 4.0 to 4.2 and I have a quick question.

I am still running IOS249 Rev 12 (not seen the need to update to Rev 14 because everything has always worked fine for me so far). When I installed IOS249 I selected IOS36 (which I had downgraded) to use during the install.

I believe that when I run this safe updater it will replace the IOS36 I downgraded with the latest official version of that IOS.

If I want to go to IOS249 Rev 14 after doing the safe update, what IOS would I therefore choose to use during the install now that IOS36 has been replaced? Can I use IOS249 which would seem to suggest that it would effectively overwrite itself (which seems a bit odd to me)?

Actually one more question. When I softmodded I patched IOS60 which I believe was necessary for Neogamma R6 to run. If I was to replace IOS60 with the Official Nintendo Stub (which I know the updater doesn't actually do) in order to have as 'pure' a Wii as possible, would that stop Neogamma R6 from running?

Thanks.

Nothing. The shop is now at v18 and this app tries to get v17. Use the shop installer by tona to get v18 of the shop. Not sure how you'd go about updating the system menu to 4.2 after this though.

Hello every one !

Here is my question and my story...

I did the 4.2 safe updater OK But why wiifit original disk ask me an update ?
As well, if i set up a wifi connexion, nintendo ask me for an update too...

This is my story, then...

After bricking a kuro wii japan in the process of turn it to 4.2E, I bougth a LU60 Wii in US to swap motherboard with the Kuro.

these are the steps i followed :
- setting up internet wifi (refused nintendo update)
- bannerbomb the 3.4U
- bootmii as an IOS (because LU60 unable to install as boot2)
- DVDX
- HBC 1.06
- Anyregion changer 1.1b to downgrade to 3.2 E setting all the fields correctlty to this region
- Safe updater 4.2E
- Trucha restore 15 for 36 install and 15 restore.
- HBC upsidedown but don't care continue upside down to proceed
- Install IOS70-v6687.wad
- Install IOS202-v4.wad
- Install IOS222-v4.wad
- Install IOS223-v4.wad
- Install IOS249-v14 from waninkoko original
- Install IOS250-v65535.wad
- Preloader .29 Jodi (because of getroot aborting message)
- SD preparation preloader OK
- Update Preloader .30
- restore original IOS36
- HBC normal again
- usbloader gx forwarder.wad.
- usbloader on SD OK

Every thing just work fine preloader show up if activated (autoboot to system menu)
Usb loader and games worked perfectly as a charm

- Transfer all the wii hardware to black kuro casing just keeping the japanese DVD drive (the us one was broken badly). Easy casing change...

when i wanted to test all features the wii acts just the same like a charm.

- Changed wifi settings to allows permanent usbloader GX autoupdate
Nintendo asked for update (that i refused) i was surprised because wii is 4.2.E system menu but rembered that safe updater did not change some stuff (and that's good) such as boot and boot 2
...so may be Wii reconized as not updated yet.

- All wiimote set OK
- Gamecube port OK
- SD port OK
- all buttons OK
- transfered Mii and saves from older Wii OK
- Usb ports tested HDD and Micro rockband original OK
- DVD drive tested with PAL original Wiifit (instantly show up in discchannel as update disc), I concluded that DVD drive just works and region is fully changed to PAL Euro but i do not understand why wiifit is asking for an IOS upgrade ?
- checked with anyregionchanger 1.1b all is correctly set as an original Euro system menu is 4.2E and region is Eur or Pal in all fields

I am not using DVD drive since i mainly used usbloadergx to prevent kids destroyng (again) my originals DVDs...

What do you advise to do ?

Thank you :-)

First, I have a Launch Wii, with Wiikey 1.9s, HBC latest, and cIOSrev15 installed and on firmware 4.1U

Anyone know why I am having this problem?
I've tried doing this safe firmware updater 3 times already but everytime it gets to IOS22, I get a http error and it drops me back to the HBC and I am still on 4.1

wow. you make us competent noobs look bad.

"IF YOU HAVE A REGION HACKED WII (IE: YOUR WII WAS KOREAN AND YOU HACKED IT TO REPORT AS A USA CONSOLE), DO NOT PERFORM *ANY* V4.2 UPDATE. NOT THIS OR THE ORIGINAL NINTENDO UPDATE! "

it says right there not to perform any update if that's the case.
