I just want to make sure that this installer will work before I try it. I'm on 4.0U, I have never updated my boot2, and I'm on Homebrew 1.06 at the moment. Is there a possibility of anything going wrong and bricking my wii?

I think I have preloader installed just in case, as I had an issue before and had to solve it with the preloader. Otherwise, I've never used homebrew to install any IOS or cIOS. I have installed a single wad before, though (To make a gecko os channel).
EDIT: I don't think I have the preloader installed anymore, so nevermind about that.

To the OP: Great app! I was still on 3.2E. I updated last night to 4.2E. Everything went as smooth as can be. I just had to sit back and wait for the update to get done. Thank you.

Used the v4.2 safe firmware updater and everything went well, games load ok with 0,3 gamma loader although i want to install neogamma v7 but i get -0211 error
when trying to install the wad. Do i need any additional wads or cios's?

Help appreciated.

Must have been the .wad file, i used someone else v7 and it installed ok i believe it was the widescreen version.

Using the safe updater (not Nintendo's own update), you should be able to update to 4.2E and still be able to play games from your region. However, if you want to play games from outside of your region on 4.2E, then you'll have to boot them via Gecko to do so. 4.2E blocks the region-free compatibility of the Wiikey. As yet, there's no Preloader or StartPatch hacks to enable region-free either. If you're already on 4.1E and want to continue playing games from outside your region, then it's probably best to stay with it for now.

But do different region games work with WiiKey if you apply RegionFrii or something to the ISOs?
I have cIOS36_rev9 installed is that OK or do I need to put a more recent version? Also will this delete the channels in my menu like SoftChip Loader?

I'm having a problem with DVD video playback after updating and I'm looking for some advice. I have various mplayers including ce and tt but they all exhibit this same problem. I go to load the dvd video, and it says that its mounting the dvd but the video never appears. If I go back to the menu and attempt to play the dvd again, it says opening stream but the video still doesn't appear. I updated once before to 4.2 using Waninkoko updater and had the same issue so I restored my wii to 4.1 using my bootmii and tested the video playback every step of the way using this updater. I installed the 4.2 Safe Firmware Updater and used dop-ios to patch IOS70 and IOS36. Everything went off without a hitch and my DVD videos could still play at this point. I hadn't rebooted the wii yet and still was operating within the hbc. I then used Startpatch 4.2.3 and installed every patch minus the no music one. At this point when I attempted to play a DVD video is when the problem reoccurred. Uninstalling the patches by startpatch didn't fix it. Anyone got a solution? FYI I had the latest hbc and dvdx installed prior to the installation of 4.2

The problem is that the current mediaplayers don't support the new DVDx. You must wait for a update.

You can fix the problem by installing IOS202 with Hermes installer (same installer for 222/223 v4). After installing IOS202, your DVD playback with come back

Thanks so much! After installing IOS202 my DVD playback is working again! After all that restoring, installing, and scouring of online threads the fix in the end was so simple.

Sometimes fixing requires more (as most people are aware!) but in this case it is very simple. I personally stopped using DVDX a long time ago. Enjoy

I used this to update to 4.2U. Everything went well and it was easy. Thanks! However, the wii is still telling me that there is an update available. If I run the update will it do nothing since everything has already been done...i.e. is it safe to run the system update so that I get rid of the notification?
