This has probably been asked, but will this app ever have self updating keys? I like this app way more than CIAngel due to the GUI, but having to take the back off the new 3DS every time a game comes out feels like it defeats the purpose. Not trying to sound ungrateful, as I am grateful, I love this app so much.

They already have that, you input a URL to download the keys from, and next time you launch the app, it will update the keys

Wait, what? Mine downloads new keys every day?

Oh man really? I need to do this now. I looked through the newest since I started using it again and I didn't see it. Awesome.

Ok so I got the QR link for enctitlekeys and now everything says wrong title key. Was this the wrong link?

Ahh, I had to delete the old bins off the SD first and let it grab from the url. GGs, all is well, thanks for the great app.

It already does. Have a look at the Update tab in Settings.

Another quick question. When downloading from freeshop, can I do other things on the 3ds? I'm guessing you'd have to close freeshop to play any games, and that would stop the download, but I just wanted to double check on the off chance it would be even more incredible and download in the background while you play.

No background downloading unfortunately

Edit: double post glitch again

You can't do that with the regular eshop either, you can only do it in sleep mode.

Edit: sorry for all the glitch posts

them who?
you mean nintendo?
They mean how long it will take to get sun and moon onto that titlekeys site.
I wonder how long it will take them to get sun and moon?
Since sun and moon is a pretty big game coming to the 3ds i can expect it to be on that titlekeys site the day of release.

Just a quick question.

Is the new Yokai Watch 2 already in freeShop? It's been out a while now, so I assumed it would already be on there, so here's my situation:

I saw that Yokai Watch 2 was released, so on day 1, I checked freeShop, didn't see it, so thought I would go into the settings and try a cache refresh, see if getting new titlekeys/updating gamelist/etc. would add it. It did not, so I assumed "okay, it's just not dumped yet." But ever since that day, my games list has not been updated at all, same games, same order. I thought it was odd, but didn't pay it much attention, as I don't keep up on most non-major games releases, so thought maybe the titlekey just wasn't added yet, and no other new releases came out yet. So, whilst installing a9lh via the new OTPless method, I did a quick skim over my SD directories, and noted that there was a root freeShop folder, and still a 3ds freeShop folder, both with enctitlekeys, even though when I had last updated freeShop, I followed the instructions on creating the 3ds folder one, and deleting the root one.

Perhaps this is a bug related to freeShop? I thought it was worth noting here, and inquiring a bit. Anything that could have created one folder or the other? Perhaps freeShop is reading one, and updating the other? Was there a recent change that makes freeShop read a root titlekeys? Maybe the cache updating is or was bugged? Just theorizing at this moment, and I apologize if I am stating obvious things that have already been noted. I installed/updated freeShop a while back, and everythign was flowing fine, so I kept to myself, and didn't feel like skimming through pages upon pages to see if this was a common thing due to my being scarce to the thread and freeShop previously running flawlessly.

Since you had freeshop installed for quite some time before you still had the old root folder on your SD card. The new one where the titlekeys etc get downloaded is iirc in the 3ds folder. If the key wasn't added yet how about adding it yourself? Search for the titlekey on your own and use that new app which lets you add it to your enctitelkey.bin (haven't used newquay till now so don't quote me on little things)

The root freeShop directory is old and not used, the current directory is /3ds/data/freeShop/ and there is a /keys/ subdirectory.

Just set the auto-download URL in freeShop settings if you want to get latest keys. If the games don't show after that (despite keys existing for that game, which they often don't), then it's because they're not in freeShop cache and there's nothing you can do about that (assuming you also have auto-update enabled).

Thank you both for the response. I know the information about the 3ds/data/freeShop/keys folder.

The reason I posted here was because I deleted the freeShop root folder long ago after I had already made the 3ds/data one and downloaded a fresh titlekeys file and placed it there, everything worked fine.

What I was questioning was how or what RE-created the root freeShop folder that I had personally deleted before.

Not that I know of. Before I updated and created the 3ds/data one, I uninstalled the enctitlekeyupdater cia that I previously had installed as to make sure that it had not interfered at all with the new pathing. That's why I'm a bit confused as to why it's there. I'm not trying to be difficult, just wanted to be helpful and point out that for some reason that I am unsure of, it was recreated. Perhaps just a bug on my end?

I did a little test. I used my personal enctitlekeys file, which has encryption data for a game that wasn't on that site yet. I was able to download the game via CIAngel using the enctitlekey, but when I loaded it with freeshop, it didn't show anything. What else is needed for a game to show up on freeshop?

Q: Why are games missing? They're on the eShop.
A: It only shows games for which you have the title key (dumped to encTitleKeys.bin). And even then some games won't show because they're not cached server-side (this will eventually change).
You'll notice CIAngel and FBI don't have metadata on these titles. You have to input title ids and it doesn't give you a name, icon, or anything about what's being installed. freeShop needs changes for this to function because it expects that data.

EDIT: once I update my eShop crawler, most the metadata should be in the cache, but it will still be a little behind with newer titles.
