Question. I'm suddenly getting an error of Description: DESCRIPTION_ACCESS_DENIED (0x6) every time I try to install a CIA. I boot up my Cakesfw, and start up FBI through Ninjhax 1.1b, and just get that error when trying to install a CIA file. Same with RxTools. PastaCFW however, acts like it installs just fine. But nothing appears on the home menu to launch. Any ideas?

The homemenuhax relies on changing the theme which is located on your SD Card, so it doesn't have kernel access. It only has userland access.
That has nothing to do with the fact that it uses themes. In fact, it is possible to use ThemeHax to launch CFW and everything that needs an ARM9 kernel access. All entrypoints used to launch the Homebrew Launcher are userland. Even NinjHax 1. The only different thing is that a kernel exploit has been found for 9.2 or less and it can be used from userland.

Right, but they were asking if homemenuhax had access to install cias without libkhax, which is not possible.

This shit is incredible!

A couple of small suggestions:

1. Allow FBI to skip CIAs that have already been installed. Currently, if you select "Install all CIAs" with one cia in the directory that's already been installed it will tell you something's already installed and if you press "cancel" it stops the whole queue.

2. Similar to above, when using sockfile (in my case socket punch) FBI will ask if you want to download something over the network everytime a new file is being sent from a list. The suggestion would be to allow it to do its thing to allow overnight CIA installing.

Great work on this, man; it's very well done.

This feature already exists. Try reading what's on screen next time

I have a few large games that are at or just over 4GB, so when they were converted into CIA, they were split in 2. I believe it happens when Gateway dumps them.

4GB .3ds files need to be split to work on gateway (in fat32 mode)
You should merge the .3ds into one 4GB file before converting to a cia.
No cia is over 4GB so no need to split it. (it's trimmed by default)

Use simple cia converter by riku.

Exactly. All it's necessary to check it's not a .cia is looking at the file extension. If it doesn't say "*.cia" it's obviously not a CIA file. And CIA files can't be divided in any case. Only happens with .3ds roms dumped by Gateway.

So i'm kind of in a bind i'm not a fan of CFW besides pasta CFW and want to install CIA's with it FBI but apparently I can't even if I run pasta the go back to Ninjhax 1.1b and then run FBI. I can launch pasta with cubic Ninja but when I try to install gateway I get >>FAILED: 0000005 C86044CD not sure what to do

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
