I just found this for the first time today, this is awesome! Thank you so much, I used BootAnim9 all the time, but of course I couldn't use it once I upgraded to Boot9Strap. I'm so glad I can have custom boot animations again!

While I doubt there's any virus in this, it appears to just be the OP's makebax program. Anybody would be much safer downloading it from the OP's link than some random person's Mega link.

Also, that doesn't really answer wicksand420's question:
is there a program to convert to ivf?
If you know how to use the command line, you can use the included ffmpeg binary to convert most types of videos to IVF, just by running:

ffmpeg -i "input.video" -f ivf "output.ivf"

That actually comes straight out of the OP's readme.md file. You should read it for more information, especially if you'd also like ffmpeg to resize your video to what BAX requires.

I got it, Thanks, I actually tried this about 2 weeks ago and it wasn't working correctly, it kept having errors with the ivf file, but it is working now.

Hi, I have a few questions about this. I have the files from release.zip and the anim file for the animation I want to use, but I cannot get it to work. I've done the steps listed on the GitLab page, but nothing happens besides a normal start up when I turn my 2DS on, or once I had a black screen with no Home menu showing up. What am I doing wrong, and can I have some help? Thanks!

can someone help me make this to a .bax file when i try i get a bug and when i use the Shaffy gui one it distorts the image

I made it better quality, but for some reason it made a smaller file size
idk mabey its my ds becuase yeah for some reason its still coming out bad looking have you tested it on yours and does it look fine on that



edit: nope i tested other files and they look fine it could just be because the original

I fixed the quality and the BUG! error thanks for the help @wicksand420

If you're wondering how to improve the quality of the ivf conversion if you ever have the same problem i have use this command: [ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -crf <number(I used nine)> -b:v 0 -f ivf -vf scale=<width>:240,fps=amount output.ivf] if you get a bug when booting your 3ds mess with the crf number

i fixed the loss of quality but now i get a BUG! message:

For future reference, the error codes can be found @ https://gitlab.com/Wolfvak/BAX/blob/134e7b46560ce721bfd13f9b319b944b191ec270/mpcore/src/anim.h#L38

Knowing "ANIM_OK" is zero (no error), error 5 is "ANIM_ERR_FRAMERATE" (invalid framerate, either zero or higher than 60, non-integer framerates are an issue with current makebax too).
I should probably rewrite entire chunks of the error handling code, but I suppose it's better than just showing a colored screen, or shutting down.

I plan on releasing a slightly rewritten version of BAX in a couple of days which should be retrocompatible with existing anims, but I need suggestions on how to handle video conversion...
