I'm also looking for a card that will basically just run most DS games, but homebrew doesn't matter. It's gotta be cheap too. I was looking at the R4, but no one seems to have recommended it though.

Personally I would reccomend the Acekard 2. You can get it fairly cheap, assuming you are buying online and has a very large range of features (especially when using the AKAIO firmware).

I also own a DSTT and an R4 and imho I think the AK2 tops them.

I don't know about the iTouchDS but the Cyclo DS is very good, unfortunately overpriced.

You can probably buy a DSTT the cheapest and If you want to save money definately go for that, but I would would shell out a couple extra bucks (cost me $5 more) and get the AK2, you wont be dissapointed.

Also, the R4 is good and has a very simple interface: 3 options in the menu, being games (which is just a list, no pics), multimedia (moonshell) and boot slot 2. Just a note, basically all R4's you will but now are fakes as the company that made R4 no longer exists, all these cards work fine and in fact exactly the same (except some now include SDHC support) but just so you know, not the original company.

DSTT is fairly good but when you first play a game it takes a fair while to create a save file. other than that it loads games fast.

AK2 is my personal favourite because it is extremely fast, everything loads in a couple of seconds (even with first use) and it has a many features you could want as well as a very nice GUI.

Basically my short answer is I reccomend an Acekard 2.

Also just to annoy more people with my posts (sorry), as far as slot 2 cards go there is the EZ Flash 3-in-1. Basically its your only choice unless you can manage to find yourself a eWin 2-in-1 (no rumble included) thats your option, but it happens to work like it should so thats good, though if you really want to use rumble I would get the single rumble cartridge as it feels a bit better and is much much quieter (well mine is anyway).

Edge and Cyclo have the best compatability. Edge is more durable and lower priced. Cyclo has more features.

I still think the R4 is the best, personally its the easiest to use. "Y" for cheats, one button for moonshell, almost 100% compatibility for homebrews...

R4 is an outdated cart.

And what flash cart isn't easy to use? They aren't exactly rocket science. ;-)

I'll vote for Acekard 2 - $10 at dealextreme. Can't beat that deal.

But it's out of stock I believe.

^Buy that. 'nuff said.

Also, the R4 issue has been resolved quite a while ago. I'll summarize.
1) R4 team is dead.
2) The only reason anybody even recommends the R4 is because it's the only one they've used.
3) There are carts that are both cheaper and better than the R4.

Acekard 2 - nice fast responsive menus (imo it's very good all around and cheap)
CycloDS - lots of good features but it's kind of expensive
Edge - I don't know much about it but people say its a very good card and is kinda like an Acekard but with firmware similar to the one CycloDS uses

I would look up some of GBATemp's reviews here for more details on the carts.

Haha, xD ur right about the R4 team being dead, but it doesnt really matter? The R4 is still capible of playing 99% roms, and i think 100% homebrew?
The R4 isnt the only card i've used, i've also used a DSTT!

And personally, the R4 is SOOOOO much easier to use. For example in the dstt you have to press select then find soft reset and click it and then press on, for the R4 all you need to do is press "R". And the only card cheaper then the R4 is the DSTT, i think. IMO, i think the R4 is the card that started the "revolution" of ds flash cards. But thats just me. xD

The r4 is dead. Face it. Don't get one. I own a DSTT, it is certainly cheaper then most flashcards, and works with almost all games. If you are looking for a more expensive flash card, I would get a cycloDS.
BTW: I got my dstt from http://www.stuffs4kids.com/. If you live in the US, I highly recommend them, the support is quick and responsive, and when they forgot to add a 1gb MicroSD that I ordered, they priority mailed me a 2gb for the same price that they charge for a 1gb MicroSD.

i highly recommend M3 Real Perfect Bundle (comes with rumble and gba expansions)
i was thinking about getting a cyclo but cost too much i am really happy with M3 i also love sakura

CycloDS if budget is not a concern, since they seem to update their software very fast. It's a bit better than EDGE, though a lot more expense (~$60)
EDGE if you want an excellent card and don't want to spend more than $15 (almost identical to CycloDS). Updates are still regular, just not as fast as CycloDS, and has a few less features (though none of them are essential, just extras).

I have quite a few flash card and out of all I really like the AceKard 2 Good OS, Fast loading for games, with AKAIO makes it one of the best flashcards

If you want a really cheap flashcard I would go with DSTT but it doesn't load games as fast AK2 and the games are not automatically alphabetized.

CycloDS and M3 are also ones to mention because they are just as good as AK2 but Cyclo can cost quite alot.

Overall I still perfer the AK2 just because of its OS and the start menu option.

What the hell does that even mean?
I have both a DSTT and an R4 and I have no idea what u are talking about.
If your trying to say DSTT has a difficult soft reset, its just standard R+L+A+B+X+Y.

Wrong.

Personally reccomend Acekard 2 for all round features, best cart I have used and easily one of the best out there, if not the best.

supercard has done me well, even my 1st card the supercard lite is still supported, i'm using a supercard one now and it has all the features you'd care about like real time saves.

the only downside is the bad english on their website, but that's just nicpicking
