I am 99% sure that I have a clone which I am ok with. The issue I am having is when I plug it into a Windows 10 computer, it appears to be recognized as a device but I can't actually access it at all. I have tried on Android and it also recognizes it but the filesystem is never accessible, or sometimes I can see the directory structure, but only for a few seconds before the device becomes completely inaccessible again. I bought 2 of the same device and they both do this same behavior. Any ideas how I can get the OS to see it so I can update the payload.bin on it? Once it locks up, the white light stays on even if it isn't plugged into anything. I have to wait until the battery drains completely before I can even try again to access it.
Ideas?

It turned out the issue was the USB reader on my laptop doesn't correctly see the device. I made sure it had the latest drivers after and it still didn't work. It would recognize the drive for about 4 seconds, and then the drive would be one 100% inaccessible. Same problem even with AV disabled. When I tried a different laptop, it is recognized as a USB device and I could update the payload.bin files with no problem. Very strange but I vaguely remember having this issue withe the same laptop several years ago.
It is an Alienware 17 R3 laptop. Yes. Old. Still very functional but not for more modern games. Don't care about that though.

I don't mean to revive an older thread, but it has been a while since I have updated my Switch since Hekate 6.0.7 a year and half ago. That being said, it's possible that you all that are having trouble are trying to put the wrong firmware on your RCM Loader One. There was a "plus" version that uses the 2.0.2 firmware and then the regular "One" version that still uses the 1.2 firmware. I have 2 loaders of the regular "One" variety and I still have the firmware if needed.

Do not upgrade the firmware on the RCM Loader, NEVER FORMAT IT, just use Argon-NX-SE (https://github.com/Storm21CH/ArgonNX-SE) as payload on the RCM Loader and then all upgrades should be do on the console's SD Card

Yeah I haven't updated the firmware in years now as the newest version of the firmware is still 1.2 and probably won't ever be updated anymore. I don't have the issue everyone else has because I have 2 legit RCM Loaders and not clones.

As far as the Argon you linked to, so are you saying that I can remove the Hekate payload from the RCM Loader?

this is what my current RCM Loader looks like...I haven't updated since 10/2023

Hi! Sorry to bump an old thread. I’m sort of in the same position as the person you were responding to in that I haven’t updated my switch in awhile and am about to update to the latest firmware. In the past I’ve used my rcm loader. Are you saying that the Argon NX payload will replace the rcm loader dongle altogether? How would this work? Do I launch argon-nx once and then it will load by default moving forward whenever i enter RCM mode?

Appreciate your help!

Nop, ArgonNX, is a homebrew which allow you to never have to upgrade your RCM_Loader.

you put the ArgonNX-SE payload on your RCM_loader and will never upgrade it again.

When a new version of Hekate or Atmosphère is released, all upgrade you have to do is on your SDCard. if you use Hekate as your bootloader, you don't even need to upgrade the SDMC:/argon/payloads/hekate.bin because Hekate test on boot the payload and if is a old one, the new one is reloaded.

For Atmosphère you must to upgrade SDMC:/argon/payloads/fusee.bin in order to boot a new Atmosphère release.

The only advantage is never need to upgrade RCM_Loader which can be a challenge or even you normally forgot to upgrade it.

Thanks you! That makes sense! Much easier to manage that way! Haven’t updated my soft modded switch In awhile so this is helpful.
