The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct recap, Ocarina of Time remake release date revealed

After being announced last week, the first of two broadcasts is set to go live later today with a stark focus on The Legend of Zelda and its 40th anniversary celebrations. According to a tweet from the Japanese Nintendo account, we'll be seeing more details on the Ocarina of Time remake, alongside various bits of non-gaming media. This most likely hints at a bit more information on the upcoming movie, but could potentially be more.

With me working through the presentation itself, I figured I'd get a thread up early to give you folks a place to discuss, with the intent to update it when I get home with all the key bits of information. Is there anything you're hoping to see? Any particular wants for the upcoming remake? Let us know your thoughts.

Is it confirmed to be in Unreal Engine? And yeah, I hate that engine too. lol

I didn't see any confirmation anywhere personally, but it kinda does feel like Unreal Engine yeah, although we could just be saying this because it looks somewhat similar than all the fanmade projects that actually use Unreal Engine.

Goddamn. This on November 5th and GTA 6 on the 19th. Gonna be a busy winter this year.
you won't need 2+ weeks to finish OOT, it's not that a long a game, especially if Nintendo doesn't add any content to it, which seems to be the case :(

I'm quite conflicted on the way the game looks. Looks GREAT, though I'm not a fan of the lighting, but it just... doesn't look like OOT. Hopefully I can overcome that, it looks pretty cool (okay aside from that microphone, thing) and I'd love to at least give it a try...

I'm actually not so keen on this. I thought all the time: "It's so overstimulating!" They made this definitely with Gen Alpha's shorter attention span in mind. I watched the German version and the voice action is cringe. I don't know if the English presentation had this, too, but I got a jumpscare when Navi's text used an Em dash, which AI loves to use. I wonder if they actually wrote the additional text with AI. But that would be crazy!

What I loved though was the Ocarina implementation. That was really thoughtful and Link even does the proper fingering! I even consider to get the Ocarina.

Although it does suck that this was more-so an OoT direct than an actual anniversary direct, I am stoked to see how great the remake looks. I'll 100% be picking Ocarina of Time over GTA VI. $60 Game, physical, game fully on cartridge. Nintendo fans are eating good

(I'm also buying it in hopes that Majora's Mask will be remade this way bc imo Majora's Mask is FAR better than Ocarina of Time and easily my favorite Zelda game of all time)

Pretty happy with it overall, some of the faces are a bit off-putting but the environments are absolutely gorgeous, and there's some nice QoL stuff included too. OoT is one of those games I like to play through again every five years or so, and it's probably been closer to a decade since I last played the 3DS version, so good timing on this.
