Just for fun I booted up cod:mw3 and started online multi-player.
It said it needed an update so I clicked yes....... Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and a hard shutdown was needed
Tried a second time and profile was corrupt ..... Again after clicking yes the same thing.

Console Wiiu 5.5.3 , vwiii softmodded, running usb loader gx from sticky.
All works great from wii to GameCube games, emulators, emunand for vc and wii ware .... Just this game going online seems an issue.
The single user campaign works fine

Anyone know what to do?

5 games on wii.... So yes and online should still work as they don't use the now defunct Nintendo servers for multiplay.. I was just checking them for fun but mw3 needed a patch. .. .. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Ah I See .... Not Sure how to help ... a couple of games back on my softmodded wii worked better on diferant loaders WIIFLOW ,,USB LOADER ect ... maybe switch them up ... last time i played MW3 on wii the whole severs was a hacked server ... i.e sky jumps unlimited ammo ect ....

Hello. I just bought MW3 on Wii to check do people still playing it. Turns out I need patch from Wii Shop that was closed in January. Do you have any ideas for a workaround? Cheers

I can confirm thia happens for me too. Fix is to boot vwii into safe mode (hold plus and minus while booting main OS) and delete the update. Also as per another comment I think the update comes from Activison servers as it is downloaded in game though not 100% sure. I'll try when I get home. Surprisingly this is the first thread I've seen about this issue.

usb expansion? I know the PS4 can do this
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, oh Yea I recall my PS3 can do that
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Modded ofc
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Speaking of my PS3 i havent downloaded any games yet bc my wifi is too slow
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
and also because blackouts here are very common and that could damage the console
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
Do you have a surge protector or an UPS?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea but to play the next gen games, you must have those games on internal, or buy the official ssd expansion cards, which are expensive
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, dunno what each one of those are
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, my PS3 was already modded when my dad bought it for me and my brother
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
A surge protector is a device that protects your electronics from fluctuations. I recommend having your console plugged into one of those
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
An UPS is even better because it has an internal battery that keeps your system on even if the power goes out, but it's much more expensive obviously
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, oh i recall seeing one in some in the houses of some relatives, including my dad's apartment
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, although whatever device we plug into them stops getting power anyways lol
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
    that's weird
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, and oh i was talking about ups
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    No not that one
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Surge protectors are what i was talking about

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
On the series s/x you can use a external HD but any next gen games must be on your internal ssd, or you can buy a ssd expansion card, but pricey. Any xbone, 360, or og Xbox games can be played from external tho.
