I personally LOVE the GW. It works. Even with Classic Mode I can use Sky3DS or DSTwo. No issues.

But it costs $$$. Worth every cent.
And if there was no GW we would be having a lot less chance of getting a CFW anyway. GW is just a way to get easy access of exploits use rather than research for one (webbrowser for O3DS, and CN and OOT for N3DS, etc), AND getting away of pointing fingers at devs *rolleyes*. The only available option would have been Sky3DS and their clones (and that would have been at least twice expensive) and would care less about compatibility as it would have no competetion...

it basically means......they are working. Just because they won't release something doesn't mean they are sitting back and enjoying the flow of money. They probably did find sometihng but are just holding it as a trump card.

Did anybody know about the Link hack? Nope, all were too focused on cubic ninja hack.

lol then you don't know the chinese flashcard marked. The Gateway clones all dropped support in no time and the sky asses tried to rip off people with a 10 games-only card. They have no fix for existing cards. If they do something they will release the rainbow button edition soon to get more of your moneyz.

I honestly wish I knew about the whole GW scene ages ago before buying my N3DS. I had one of those first edition ones that came with 9.0 firmware and was pretty pleased about it. However doing a system transfer required you to stay on the same firmware update and the lady at the store decided to save me some time and update it on the spot in which the latest was already 9.8 hence losing my window. I don't know why people are really salty about different card types but at this point it's come to the point where it's like 'When God gives you lemons' situations and I and a few people can't be picky with our choices of cards. SKY3DS was the only choice although expensive as hell, it beats the odds of nothing at all. Here most of you are debating about the chips but the biggest issue with SKY3DS has always been the template. I see people posting 'thanks OP' for new game cia rips and here we need to wait as well because they refuse to give the mystery value to generate our own templates.

Which brings me to the final point, the latest last two updates didn't exactly patch any exploits, but neither did it break any either completely, which pegs me at what exactly has been added or changed.

Here you'll find the answers you seek 10.0.0-27 and 10.1.0-27

Whether you have the intellectual understanding to comprehend what you're reading is another thing entirely (I sure don't).

I have a sky3DS and I am saddened by this.

Welp; might as well make the best out of it. Once the next CFW exploit comes out (or once FE:Fates releases in US; was doing digital pre-order anyways) i'm in business.

I wish I understood what I actually read in that wiki page. But everything seems so... Vague like giving name to grass strands in your lawn that only you can understand.
Good for Nintendo! Stop those pirated games!
It's not about pirated games. You're here for the exact same reason. The exploits. If not for the games be it legit or not, people wouldn't have found the exploits for the home brew you may or may not be using.

The anti-Sky3ds AP has hit it's stride: first 3rd party game has the 1FE flag set! :o

It's goosebumps, you said it yourself. It's probably some tie-in game with the upcoming jack black movie, based off the popular kids books of the same name.
Makes sense. I've read the books as a kid lol but I didn't think they'd stoop to the level of making a game out of the movie. Game based on movies never turn out good. I wonder when they'll ever realize that..

If regionfive allows romhack on the fly as smea stated, I guess we could patch the Ap flag (without breaking the signature)
i presume that would just be redirecting the romfs, the AP flag is loaded from the carts header settings, not the romfs i.e before the files are even accessed that check would have already taken place....if there is any way to bypass it i doubt smealum would go out of his way to do so being anti piracy and all that

if they can turn a profit on it i don't think they care if the game is particularly good or bad, usually basing a game on a movie meakes it much more restrictive as you generally have to follow the story of the movie

Like the abomination that frozen was for the 3DS?

That's a tradition as old as the video game industry, of course they will do it if there's even a slight chance they'll recoup their money

Never is a strong word. After all, Goldeneye, Blade Runner, The Warriors, Ghostbusters 2009 game, Chronicles of Riddick, Die Hard Trilogy, and a few of the LOTR games were not only not crap, but they were actually pretty good. But for every Goldeneye, there's 10 E.T.s, so odds are certainly not in their favor.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
