Hardware PSA: Do not use a third party dock with switch on 5.0.0

Thing is, none of this would be a huge deal if Nintendo would just introduce cloud saves already. Nyko replace bricked Switchs if their dock is the culprit. I don't mean to shift blame, because its also very shitty that these 3rd party docks have these issues. But still, how are cloud saves not a thing yet? Switchs are gonna break or get lost regardless of these third party docks, and they must recognize that.

Oh, I get it. Its just a huge bummer that our scene, that I love to be a part of, is a large part of the reason that something this critical for the system is being held back.

Using Google Translate, it mean 5.0 users can using SH350 and SH500 without any problem.

Look at the 1 star reviews. Apparently there can be issues. Looks like a scorel (no name) hub. I decided to chuck mine. Not worth the potential breaking.

Perhaps it's not the update that killed it, perhaps the docks were slowly killing them over time, and then around the time of the update they had done enough damage to kill many systems.

kacosata doesnt produce self.
it rebrand other things.
it could be scorel, coov or a other company but it is not clear which it is because of the rebranding.

It could be that the AC adapter offered with the higher SFANS tier is the culprit and the dock itself is safe.
Some people are using their SFANS just fine.
I wouldn't risk using the SFANS/COOV though, you could still brick at any time.

I'm currently saving up for a Switch and might go out and get one by the end of the month. I had planned to buy a ton of accessories with it which includes a dock, but in light of recent news, this has me pretty scared. I know nothing will happen if I don't upgrade my FW, but there is still concern.

I just want to ask, is it safe to use a cellphone brick to charge the switch? At this point I'm not really sure. I might as well lug the adapter everywhere I go...

and when you dont by nyko, scorel or sfans dock you are on the safe side.

Anyway, I have been playing with the idea of gutting the SFANS and replacing the guts with the one from the original dock, which should fit fine since it's the same form factor, since I really like the form factor of the SFANS, even if it's ugly looking. It fits nicely in my pouch with room left over.

coov is not small popular.
its in Germany the more popular dock then the other companys.

you find the sfans design good?
i think its ugly and all of users that it have says that the dock is really poor poor quality.
nothing with 2 tone colour like the website only 1 colour with no stamps.
no fan opening for the boar what means heat death.
and poor cut outs for the ports


and the dock cost around 50-60 euro!

for that money you can print more than 1 dock cases with better design ^^
