Hacking PS4 5.xx Rest mode Kernel exploit revealed

I think it’s hilarious how people throw the term “backup” around instead of just saying piracy. Then again, it is a sensitive topic here on gbatemp (I got stung once saying that I decided to buy a 3ds once “backups” were compatible with it only).

It's more of a joke than an attempt to skirt the rules or scorn from people who have "Piracy is wrong" as their signature.

One thing you should always remember when seeing something on YT.
If it's to good to be true, it usually is.
Clickbait everywhere and liars will be lying to gain views.

5.xx in this context doesn't mean every firmware >5<6, it means it works up to at least 5.0.

I don't tend to do too much roaming of all the different sites these days so was wondering if there has been talk elsewhere regarding the public release of working exploits for 5.XX ??

I remember those leaks back in November which don't seem to have come to anything, plus this rest mode demo looked promising too

Anyone have any positive news / rumors to share ?

i saw the video on how hacker starts this exploits, seems it's quite complicate and requires few more steps than OTHER CONSOLES, just 2-3 min to get it work and it probably requires exploit everytime u turn on ps4....

one most important thing is: ur have to give up online multiplayer, it's like eating A PIZZA WITHOUT CHEESE/MOZZARELLA, it simply sucks.

Unfortunately not.

Looks like a few people have 4.50 (possibly higher) web exploits, but theyre not sharing yet.

The 5.x exploits are even less talked but even more speculated about in my experience.

Thanks mate, that's a real shame. I must admit I am a little envious watching everybody 'fill their boots' on 4.05

I've not really used the ps4 in some time, so I suppose it can just sit until one day 5.0 may get something similar, fingers crossed

I made the decision to keep my PS4 low (3.x) and play xbox one instead.

I have no doubt 5.x exploits will surface... its nearly easter too! (just a hopeful guess)

Im now in same situation with switch, as I normally play online.. but dont want to not be playing it, though I have plenty of PS4 stuff now to distract me.

I don't know which video you saw but it's far from complicated: go to "Settings", select "User's Manual", done. HEN activated in less than 10 seconds. And the good thing is, if you reset your console it's still OFW, look ma' no bricking.

good, the question is when is he going to release his exploit?? NEVER?

I don't know how the PS4 homebrew scene is in releasing exploits. I don't know the timestamps when PS4 4.05 was released and when the exploit was released, and then the USB Loader.
If it was a year, then I wouldn't count on a 5.0x exploit in 2018, but rather mid-late 2019.

As always when an exploit has just been found, give it atleast a few months for homebrew devs to write software for it that is less buggy and brick-proof for the exploit(s). By the time other homebrew devs also write homebrews for example emulators, homebrew games, etc etc.

Ofcourse I'm hyped for it aswell, but its just a hard fact that we have to wait. Also waiting on Switch 4.x exploit.
It's already good to know that there are vulnerabilities out there.

The hype is instantly gone if it comes from Fail0verflow, because we know for sure they don't release anything.
