Homebrew Misc PS1/2 PS2 Slim modern DVDs?

I got a PS2 Slim from my Cousin because he doesn't need it anymore. I'm not sure what model it is. It runs burned PS1, burned PS2 games and some DVDs with old, poor or none Copy-protection. But, when I tried to play a DVD from 2016, it simply doesnt work... I have FreeDVDBoot and I'm wondering if there is a homebrew app that can run those DVDs.

Are we talking about burnt or original movie DVDs? Any original ones should work. If we're talking about burnt DVDs you just need to make sure you're burning them correctly

I'm talking about an retail "Dreamworks Trolls" DVD from germany.
